Data on births presented in this special release were obtained from the Certificates of Live Birth submitted by the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars in their monthly report throughout the region to the Philippine Statistics Authority – Provincial Statistical Offices (PSO). Said data were encoded or uploaded into the Vital Events Information (VEI) system.  

Figures presented herein cover the 4th quarter of 2023 and 2024 and are still preliminary and may differ in the final counts.

 

Three Live Births Registered per Hour in CAR

•    There were 7,568 registered live births in the region for the 4th quarter of 2024. This shows a decrease of 16.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023 with 9,110.

•    Among the provinces, Kalinga recorded the highest occurrence of registered live births in the 4th quarter of 2024 with 1,298, followed by Benguet with 1,234, Apayao at 1,166, Mountain Province at 825 and Abra and Ifugao with 768 and 644, respectively.

•    When compared to the same quarter last year, all of the provinces reported a decrease in the number of live births registered by an aggregate of 33.5 percent.

•    At an average of 18, Baguio City had the most live births registered daily, followed by Kalinga with 14, Benguet and Apayao with 13 each, Mountain Province with 9, and Abra and Ifugao with 8 and 7, respectively.

•    There were 82 live births registered daily or 3 live births registered per hour in the region.

Most Registered Births Occurred in October
•    The month of October had the highest number of registered live births with 2,751 in the region. It was followed by November with 2,525 and December with 2,292 births registered.

The City of Baguio and the Municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet had the Highest Registered Live Births in CAR

•    Of the two cities in the region, Baguio City had the highest live births registered with 1,633, followed by Tabuk City, Kalinga with 543.

•    The municipality with the highest number of registered live births was La Trinidad, Benguet with 905 live births recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024. Luna, Apayao with 755 followed by Bangued, Abra, and Bauko, Mountain Province with 580 and 519, respectively.

Abra municipalities have the Fewest Registered Live Births in CAR  

•    The municipalities in the region with the fewest live births registered were Bucloc, Langiden, Daguioman, Danglas, Pennarubia, Tadian, Luba, San Quintin, Sabangan, Pidigan, and Kabayan most of which are in Abra.
