Overseas workers from CAR by age group

  • Out of the 1.2 million household population of persons aged 15 years and over in the Cordillera, 48,800 were overseas workers.
  • Those 25 to 29 years old made up the largest age group with 11,598 overseas workers. This age group comprised 24 percent of the total overseas workers. Followed by those in age group 30 to 34 years at 22 percent or 10,527 overseas workers.
  • Aged 45 years and over comprised 18.0 percent or 8,799 overseas workers. The age bracket 35 to 39 years came next with 16 percent or 8,005 overseas workers. Other  age groups only comprised less than 11 percent each.
  • The age group with the least number of overseas workers was under 20 years of age with only 1 percent of the total overseas workers in the region.

Overseas workers from CAR by sex

  • Out of the total 44,800 overseas workers from CAR who were aged 15 years and over in 2015, 67.7 percent were females. In terms of count, there were 33,024 female overseas workers listed in the region. On the other hand, 32.3 percent (15,776 persons) of the total overseas workers in the region were males.

Overseas workers from CAR by highest grade completed or attended

 

  • In 2015, most overseas workers were academic degree holders. They comprised 41 percent of the 44,800 overseas workers in CAR. Followed by those who attended or completed high school at 31 percent. College undergraduates comprised 19 percent of the total overseas workers in the region. Post secondary graduates and undergraduates comprised only 7% percent. Elementary graduates and undergraduates comprised 3 percent. Other grade or education levels comprised the remaining percentage.

Overseas workers from the Cordillera provinces by age group

 

  • Most overseas workers came from Benguet with a count of 12,922 persons. It comprised 26 percent of the total overseas workers registered in CAR. Among the age groups in the province, aged 25 to 29 years had the highest number of overseas workers with 3,395 persons. While age group below 20, had the least number of overseas workers with 106 persons.
  • Baguio City came next as having the most number of overseas workers with 10,086 persons comprising 21 percent of the total overseas workers in the region. The highest number of overseas workers from Baguio City were those in age group 45 years and over with 2,958 persons. The least number of overseas workers were aged 19 years and below with 82 persons.
  • Abra placed third in the most number of overseas workers with 9,569 persons. It comprised 20 percent of the total number of overseas workers in the region. In the province, most overseas workers were aged 30 to 34 years (2,121 persons) while the least number of overseas workers were aged 19 years and below (89 persons).
  • Apayao enumerated the least number of overseas workers with 2,736 persons. It only comprised 6 percent of the total overseas workers in the Cordillera.
  • For other provinces, the proportion of its overseas workers to the total overseas workers in the region was 10 percent or less.

Overseas workers from the Cordillera provinces by highest grade completed or attended

  • In Abra and Apayao, most of their overseas workers attended or completed high school. While in Baguio City and in the rest of the provinces, their overseas workers were mostly academic degree holders. In Baguio City, 51 percent of its overseas workers were academic degree holders. This percentage translates to a count of 5,676 persons.
  • The second highest grade completed by overseas workers from Abra and Apayao was with college degree. While overseas workers from Baguio City and other provinces
    attended or completed high school. Benguet had 4,053 overseas workers (31 percent) who attended or completed high school.
  • College undergraduates were common in all provinces including Baguio City, as the third most number of overseas workers. Kalinga had the highest proportion of college undergraduates to its total number of overseas workers in the province with 23 percent of its total overseas workers. Abra had the least proportion of college undergraduates to its total number of overseas workers in the province with a count of 1,674.

Overseas worker is a household member (15 years old and over) who is out of the country due to an overseas employment.

Highest grade completed or attended is the highest grade or year completed or attended in school, college or university.

  • High school is one of the classifications for highest grade or year completed or attended in school. The data for high school includes undergraduates and graduates.
  • Post-secondary is one of the classifications for highest grade or year completed or attended in school. The data for post-secondary includes undergraduates and graduates.
