This special release presents statistics on vital events occurring for the third quarter of 2023 in the province Ifugao. This publication shows the total registered birth, marriage, and death statistics by registration status, sex, legitimacy status, age, type of ceremony, and place type. The civil registry documents transmitted monthly by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) to Ifugao Provincial Statistical Office for machine processing served as the source of data in preparation of this special release.

                                                                                                                                                              

 

The province of Ifugao accumulated a total of 1,442 civil registry documents for the third quarter of 2023. Birth took the highest number of recorded documents with 1,030 registered live births or 71.4% of the total registry documents, followed by Death with 240 recorded documents or 16.6% of the total registry documents. Marriage took the lowest recorded documents with 172 or 11.9% of the total registry documents in the province of Ifugao.

Compared in the second quarter, the total number of civil registry documents was higher by 3.7%. Birth registration was higher by 11.9%, Death registration was higher by 19.6%, and Marriage registration was lower by 65.9%.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

BIRTH REGISTRATION
The province of Ifugao has accumulated a total of 1,030 registered live births for the third quarter of 2023, the municipality of Lamut recorded the highest registered births with 25%, followed by Alfonso Lista and Lagawe with 19.8% and 11.7%, respectively. Hingyon recorded the lowest registered live births with 0.6%.

 

 

By gender status, male registration has accumulated a total of 559 or 54.3% of the total birth registration, while 471 were recorded on female registration or 45.7% of the total birth registration in the province of Ifugao. There was more male registration than female registration for the third quarter of 2023.
By municipality, Lamut has the highest record on male and female registration, followed by the municipalities of Alfonso Lista, and Lagawe. Hingyon has the lowest record on male and female registration.                                                                                                                              

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

During the third quarter, Ifugao has recorded a total of 87 teenage mothers. Comparing from the total during the second quarter, the total of teenage mothers was higher by 42.6%. 
The youngest mother for the province of Ifugao for the third quarter was 14 years old. It was recorded from the municipality of Alfonso Lista.

For the third quarter of 2023, a total of 645 were registered within the reglementary period of thirty days or 62.6% of the total registered live births. A total of 385 or 37.4% were registered after the reglementary period, some of it were registered through the PBRAP or Philsys Birth Registration Assistance Project wherein this project aims to register unregistered and/or delayed births.
The municipality of Lamut recorded the highest timely registered births, while the municipality of Lagawe recorded the highest delayed registration.

 

 

By place of birth, a total of 618 were born at different medical facilities like hospitals, rural health units and birthing clinics or 60% of the total registered live births. Home births totaled to 410 or 39.8% of the total registered live births. There was 2 recorded live births that took place in an ambulance in the municipality of Hingyon.
The municipality of Lamut has the highest recorded births on medical facilities, while the municipality of Lagawe has the highest registered home births.

 

 

 

For the Legitimacy Status, the province of Ifugao has a total of 749 or 72.7% were born legitimate while a total of 281 or 27.3% were born with unmarried parents. The municipality of Lamut recorded the highest registrations for both legitimate and illegitimate.

 

 

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION
The province of Ifugao has recorded a total of 172 registered marriages for the third quarter of 2023, the municipality of Lamut recorded the highest registered marriages with 15.7%, followed by Tinoc, Banaue and Lagawe with the same number of registrations with 14.5% and 12.2%, respectively. While Hingyon and Hungduan recorded the lowest registered marriages both with 2.3%.

 

 

By registration status, a total of 164 were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days taking 95.3% of the total registered marriages. Only eight marriages were late registered.

 

 

Among the types of ceremonies, wedding rites officiated by the Roman Catholic Church had a total of 41 or 23.8% of the total registered marriages. The civil wedding rites had a total of 67 or 39%. Wedding rites officiated by other religious rites totaled 64 or 37.2% of the total registered births. 
For wedding rites officiated by the Roman Catholic Church, the municipality of Lagawe recorded the highest. Whilst the municipality of Alfonso Lista totaled the highest for Civil wedding rites. The municipality of Lamut also recorded the highest for wedding rites officiated by other religious rites.

 

 

For the total registered marriages by place type, weddings held at the church recorded a total of 78 or 45.3% of the total registered marriages. Weddings held at the mayor’s office recorded a total of 67 or 39% of the total registered marriages. A total also of 21 were held at home with 12.2% and 6 were held at other specified places with 3.5%. 
Moreover, the municipality of Lagawe has the highest record of church weddings. The municipality of Tinoc has the highest record of weddings held at the mayor’s office. For home weddings, both the municipalities of Banaue and Lamut recorded the highest. There were also records of marriages held at other specified places wherein Banaue has the highest record.

 

 

DEATH REGISTRATION
The province of Ifugao has recorded a total of 240 registered deaths for the third quarter of 2023, the municipality of Lamut recorded the highest registered deaths with 19.6%, followed by Alfonso Lista and Aguinaldo with 17.9% and 10%, respectively. Hungduan recorded the lowest registered live births with 3.3%.

 

 

By gender disaggregation, a total of 134 registrations were male and 106 were female. The municipality of Lamut recorded the highest on male registration and the municipality of Alfonso Lista recorded the highest on female death registration.

 

 

For the total registered deaths by civil status, deaths with single status were at 18.1%, married at 50.4% and widow/widowers with 32.5%.
The municipalities of Lamut, Kiangan, Lagawe and Alfonso Lista has the highest number of registered deaths with single statuses, while the municipality of Lamut has the highest number of registered deaths with married and widow/widower statuses.

 

 

Among the total registered deaths by place type, registered deaths that occurred at home recorded the highest with a total of 190 or 79.2% of the total registered deaths. A total of 50 was recorded deaths at hospital facilities or 20.8% of the total registered deaths. There was no record of death that happened on other specified places.
The municipality of Lamut registered the highest number of deaths that occurred at the hospital with 8.8% of the total registered deaths, while the municipality of Alfonso Lista registered the highest number of deaths that happened at home with 12.5% of the total registered deaths in the province of Ifugao.

 

 

There was a total of 189 registered deaths that was unattended by medical authorities or 78.8% of the total registered deaths for the third quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, a total of 51 or 21.3% registered deaths were attended by medical authorities. Therefore, deaths unattended by medical authorities was higher than deaths attended by medical authorities. 

 

 

For the registration status, the municipality of Lamut has the highest number of timely registered deaths while the municipality of Aguinaldo has the highest numbers of late registrations on death. Thus, almost all the registered deaths in the province of Ifugao was timely registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

 

 

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.

Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and all such events that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.

Municipal Form No. 102 (Certification of Live Birth) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the birth of a person for purpose of registration.

Municipal Form No. 103 (Certification of Death) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a person for purposes of registration.

Municipal Form No. 97 (Certification of Marriage) is used to record information pertaining to the marriage of the contracting parties. It contains information regarding the groom and the bride.

Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such a birth is considered live born.

Marriage is contract of permanent union between man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

Death refers to the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live births has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital function without capability of resuscitation).

Foetal death refers to death prior to the complete expulsion or extraction of a product of conception from its mother, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy.

Legitimate refers to a child conceived or born during a valid marriage of parents.

Illegitimate refers to a child conceived and born outside of a valid marriage of parents.

This release contains statistical tables and graphs encompassing the vital event – births, marriages & deaths occurring in the province of Ifugao.

Data on births, deaths and marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Live Birth (Municipal Form 102), Certificate of Death (Municipal Form 103) and Certificate of Marriage (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Office in Ifugao. Information included births, deaths and marriages registered in April to June 2023.
