This special release presents statistics on vital events occurring for the third quarter of 2023 in the municipality of Mayoyao, Ifugao. This publication shows the total registered birth, marriage, and death statistics by registration status, sex, legitimacy status, age, type of ceremony, and place type. The civil registry documents transmitted monthly by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO)-Mayoyao to Ifugao Provincial Statistical Office for machine processing served as the source of data in preparation of this special release.
The municipality of Mayoyao has registered a total of 117 civil registry documents for the third quarter of 2023. Birth took the highest registrations with a total of 98 or 83.8% of the total registered live births, followed by Death with 11 or 9.4% and Marriage with 8 or 6.8%.
BIRTH REGISTRATION
For the third quarter of 2023, the municipality of Mayoyao has accumulated a total of 98 registrations on live birth. It is higher by 32% from the total registered live births during the second quarter.
By gender disaggregation, the total registration for male and female was the same.
There was also a total of 7 live births with teenage mothers.
For the total registered live births by month, the month of September has the highest registration or 40.5% of the total registered live births. It was followed by the month of August and July with 31% and 28.6%, respectively.
Table 1 illustrates the total registered live births by registration, that 33.7% were timely registered and 66.3% were registered after the reglementary period, some of it were registered through the PBRAP or PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project wherein this project aims to register unregistered and/or delayed births. Delayed registered births were higher by 32 than timely registered births. The month of September recorded the highest for both timely and late registered births.
Figure 1 indicates the total of registered live births by legitimacy status, there were 83 or 84.7% live births with legitimate status and a total of 15 or 15.3% live births with unmarried parents. Legitimate babies were higher by 68. Therefore, more babies were born of wedlock.
By place type of birth, a total of 19 or 19.4% were born at different medical facilities like birthing clinics, rural health units, and hospitals. Home births totaled to 79 or 80.6% of the total registered live births. There was no record of live births in other places.
MARRIAGE REGISTRATION
The municipality of Mayoyao has a total of 8 registered marriages for the third quarter of 2023, it was lower by 56% from the total registered marriages during the second quarter.
For the total registered marriages by month, the months of August and September recorded the most with 37.5% each month. It was followed by the month of July with 25% of the total registered marriages. By registration status, six were timely registered and two was registered late.
Figure 2 presents the total registered marriages by place type of ceremony that among the types of ceremonies, wedding rites officiated by various religious sects had the highest registered marriages with 50%, followed by the wedding rites officiated by the municipal mayor with 37.5% and rites officiated by the Roman Catholic church with 12.5%. There was no occurrence of weddings solemnized by any tribal religion.
Figure 3 shows the total registered marriages by place type that among the place types for marriage, weddings held at the church and at their respective homes had the highest registered number of marriages both with 37.5%. Followed by weddings held at the Mayor’s Office with 25%. There was no occurrence of weddings held at other specified places.
DEATH REGISTRATION
For death registration in the third quarter of 2023, the municipality of Mayoyao has recorded a total of 11 deaths, lower by 8% from second quarters’ total of death registrations.
For the total registered deaths by month, the month of September recorded the most with 45.5% deaths. It was followed by the months of August and September both with 27.3%. More so, by sex disaggregation, 18.2% were females and 81.8% were males.
Table 2 shows the total registered deaths by civil status wherein deaths with single status were at 9.1%, married at 36.4% and widow/widowers with 54.5%. Moreover, majority were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.
For the total registered deaths by place type, there was a total of 2 or 18.2% that occurred at medical facilities. A total of 9 or 81.8% that occurred at home. There was no occurrence of death in any other specified places.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.
Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and all such events that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.
Municipal Form No. 102 (Certification of Live Birth) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the birth of a person for purpose of registration.
Municipal Form No. 103 (Certification of Death) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a person for purposes of registration.
Municipal Form No. 97 (Certification of Marriage) is used to record information pertaining to the marriage of the contracting parties. It contains information regarding the groom and the bride.
Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such a birth is considered live born.
Marriage is contract of permanent union between man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
Death refers to the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live births has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital function without capability of resuscitation).
Foetal death refers to death prior to the complete expulsion or extraction of a product of conception from its mother, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy.
Legitimate refers to a child conceived or born during a valid marriage of parents.
Illegitimate refers to a child conceived and born outside of a valid marriage of parents.
This release contains statistical tables and graphs encompassing the vital event – births, marriages & deaths occurring in the municipality of Mayoyao.
Data on births, deaths and marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Live Birth (Municipal Form 102), Certificate of Death (Municipal Form 103) and Certificate of Marriage (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Office in Ifugao. Information included births, deaths and marriages registered in July to September 2023.
