RO II Jonah Langpawen emphasizing the importance of National ID.
The Philippine Statistics Authority – Mountain Province participated in the Serbisyo Caravan at Alab Oriente, Bontoc on 25 June 2025. Organized by the municipality of Bontoc, this activity aims to provide accessible frontline services to the community, particularly those in far-flung areas.
Registration Officer II Jonah T. Langpawen seized the chance to inform the community on the importance of the National ID. She said that the NID is a foundational ID which simplifies transactions in both government and private institutions. It also facilitates access to different government and social welfare services, like medical and educational benefits. Langpawen added that the registration covers every Filipino of any age, including newborn babies.
For those who were already registered, Langpawen informed that updating of demographic information for correction or change of entries in the NID is accommodated at the fixed registration center located at Poblacion, Bontoc. Unfortunately, replacement of lost NID card is still not available but registrants may request for their NID in paper form while waiting for the availability of card replacement.
Further, Langpawen shared that the NID has three formats. She discussed the differences of these three and showed an example.
1. National ID Card: This is the physical, durable polycarbonate card issued to the registrants via mail.
2. National ID in Paper Form: This is a printable version of the national ID that can be requested at the national ID registration center, which can be laminated.
3. Digital National ID: This is an electronic ID that can be accessed by downloading, registering, and getting verified in the eGovPH app. A digital signature may also be incorporated in this ID however, printing in PVC or laminating the digital national ID is prohibited.
With the presence of different offices, Langpawen emphasized that any format of the NID must be accepted as valid proof of identity in all transaction, given proper authentication. Non-acceptance of the national ID is punishable by law up to P500,000. Hence, she thanked the municipality of Bontoc for recognizing the importance of NID and asked for continued support in its implementation.
