PSA released public advisory dated 17 September 2024, informing the public and relying parties that the printing of the Digital National ID in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or plastic cards is strictly prohibited.

 

BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Benguet reiterates that the printing of the of the National ID Card in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), plastic cards, or in paper form is strictly prohibited and will not be accepted as a valid proof of identity in any public and private transactions by relying parties.

The PSA is the only authorized party to print and issue the National ID in paper format. Meanwhile, the Digital National ID shall only be presented in mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets and only encouraged to download it.

Any individual or group found guilty of unauthorized printing, preparation, or issuance of a National ID can be penalized with imprisonment of three (3) to six (6) years and a fine of PhP 1,000,000 to PhP 3,000,000 as provided under Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act.
