11 July 2025 – BANGUED, ABRA. In line with its commitment to bring government services closer to the people, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted National ID mobile registration in the municipality of Lacub, Abra from July 1 to 5, 2025, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lacub through its Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO). The week-long registration activity aimed at providing residents of Lacub, including those from remote barangays, access to the National Identification System (NID System). This initiative is part of PSA’s broader effort to ensure that individuals in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) are not excluded from the National ID program.
One of the key highlights of the activity was the successful deployment of the registration team to Barangay Bacag on July 3, 2025. Bacag is a far-flung and mountainous barangay in Lacub, Abra and is accessible only by hiking. To bring National ID services closer to the residents, PSA personnel—led by Registration Officer II and National ID Focal Person Jonnel P. Aveño—took more than two hours hike across steep and forested terrain. They were accompanied by representatives from the Local Government Unit of Lacub, headed by Municipal Civil Registrar Maricel B. Balmaceda, and personnel from the Philippine National Police – Lacub Municipal Police Station. The team’s effort exemplifies PSA’s steadfast commitment in delivering inclusive and accessible National ID services to even the most remote communities. Through the National ID registration, residents were able to begin the process of obtaining their National ID, a foundational identity document that enables easier access to government services, financial institutions, education, employment, and other essential benefits.
The strong collaboration between PSA Abra and LGU Lacub, particularly through the support of its LCRO, played a vital role in the smooth and successful conduct of the mobile registration. The PSA continues to expand its National ID registration efforts across the province to ensure that every Abreños, regardless of location, is empowered with a valid and secure proof of identity under a unified and inclusive national identification system.
