Baguio City – The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Service Office has been continually conducting Information, Education, and Communications (IEC) campaigns to promote the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). This aims to increase public awareness and participation in PhilSys, ensuring that the people understand its importance and benefits. Registration Officer III Cristeta E. Ngolob extended services as a learning provider on the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) updates during the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) conference held at Azalea Hotels and Residences, Leonard Wood Loop, Baguio City on 07 August 2024.

Among the subjects covered were the Salient Features of Republic Act 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System Act. Similarly, benefits and uses of the National ID were highlighted. This focused on how all forms of identification whether it be a Physical card, ePhilID, or Digital ID must be honored and accepted subject to authentication. She further pointed-out that a PhP 500,000 fine would be imposed if the aforementioned IDs were not accepted. She further mentioned about Executive Order No. 162 (s.2022), which was signed by then President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on February 14, 2022. This order institutionalizes the acceptance of the Philippine Identification (PhilID) as sufficient proof of identity and age in all government and private transactions.

Moreover, she emphasized the National ID Authentication Services, which is the basic online authentication that provides an identity verification result of VERIFIED or NOT VERIFIED, and the Electronic Know Your Customer or eKYC, which provides an additional feature for successful authentication. The Relying Party (RP) will be provided with demographic information such as full name, sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, address, marital status, mobile number, email address, and portrait photo of the citizen. This information can be used to pre-fill the RP’s form.

Lastly, the participants were notified that they could now access their Digital National ID online and be verified through more reliable  authentication services like the National ID eVerify and the National ID Check at https://national-id.gov.ph or by scanning the Quick Response Code appearing on the screen.
