Almost Five Babies were Born in the Region every Hour
- There were 9,984 live births registered in the Cordillera Administrative Region during the first quarter of 2023, an increase of 17.22% from the same period in 2022 with 8,517 recorded births.
- Five babies were born per hour, or nearly 111 babies each day on average.
- In comparison to the same quarter last year, almost all provinces reported a rise in the number of registered live births. The highest percentage increase was in Apayao with 31.9%, followed by Abra at 30.4%, Benguet came in third at 21.5%, Kalinga at 15.2%, and Mountain Province at 11.5% percent. On the other hand, Ifugao had a decrease of 4.9%.
- Across areas, Benguet had the most live births reported in the 2nd quarter of 2023 with 1,998, followed by Kalinga with 1,626, Baguio City with 1,596, Abra with 1,379, Apayao with 1,226, Mt Province with 1,124, and Ifugao with the lowest registered live births at 1,035.
- The province of Benguet had the highest daily average registered live births with 22, Baguio City and Kalinga followed at 18 each. Ifugao and Mountain Province had the lowest daily average registered live births at twelve each.

January had the Most Registered Births Occur in the Region
- The month of January had the highest registered live births with 7 out of 20 babies born in the Region. It was followed by the month of March and February with 3,434 and 3,105, respectively.

More Male babies are Born in CAR
- There were 5,051 male babies registered during the second quarter of 2023, making up 50.6% of all births in the Region, compared to 4,933 females, or 49.4%. As a result, there were 102 men for every 100 women.
- The Province of Kalinga had a sex ratio of 108, higher than the regional average. Following this were Mountain Province and Ifugao with 104 and 103, respectively. Meanwhile, a sex ratio below 100 indicates that there are more females than males in Benguet, Abra, and Apayao.

Live Births by Registration Status
- Timely Registration refers to the registration of births within 30 days of occurrence. In the first
quarter of 2023, 17 out of 25 registered births were timely.
- The areas that recorded the highest share in timely registered births were Baguio City at 28.7%, Benguet at 15.3%, and Kalinga at 13.5%. On the other hand, the province of Abra has the highest recorded share in late registered births at 26.4%, followed by Kalinga and Benguet at 22.3% and 17% respectively.
