Registered Marriages Increased by 30 percent

• The reported number of registered marriages for the year 2022 was 9,754, revealing a 30 percent increase compared with the previous year’s figure of 7,481.
• On the average, a total of 27 registered marriages were solemnized daily.
• Marriages registered over the ten-year period of 2013-2022 declined by 0.64 percent.
• Figure 1 displayed a declining trend from 2013 to 2022.  In 2020, mainly due to the COVID-19 restrictions the number of marriages was recorded at 4,945 making it the lowest during the 10-year span.

Registered Marriages by Place of Occurrence

• The highest rate of marriage occurrences was found in areas with relatively large populations. In 2022, the province of Benguet recorded the highest number of marriages which accounted for 2,660 or 27.2 percent of the total registered marriages in the Region.
• Apayao has the least registered marriages with 728 or 7 percent of the total registered marriages in the Region.

Marriages Peak in May

• The month of May recorded the highest daily average with 4 marriages.
• The top five months with recorded marriages took place in May at 13.3 percent, followed by April at 12.8 percent, March at 12 percent, December at 10.4 percent, and January at 9.3 percent.
• The least registered marriages occurred in September with 450 marriages.
• The lowest daily average was recorded from September to November, with 1 marriage each.

Municipalities with the most Registered Marriages

• 5 of the top 10 municipalities having the most number of marriages were from the province of Benguet, while, one each in Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.
• Among the Municipalities in the Region, La Trinidad, Benguet had the most number of marriages registration with 4.56 percent or 445 marriages. It was followed by Bangued, Abra with 3.0 percent,  Tuba, Benguet with 2.91 percent, Buguias, Benguet with 2.01 percent, and Itogon, Benguet with 1.99 percent registered marriages.

Municipalities with the least number of Registered Marriages

• The province of Abra has the most municipalities with the least number of registered weddings, ranging from 2 to 9 for the year 2022.
