This special release presents statistics on vital events occurring for the second quarter of 2023 in the municipality of Lamut, Ifugao. This publication shows the total registered birth, marriage, and death statistics by registration status, sex, legitimacy status, age, type of ceremony, and place type. The civil registry documents transmitted monthly by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO)-Lamut to Ifugao Provincial Statistical Office for machine processing served as the source of data in preparation of this special release.

BIRTH REGISTRATION

The municipality of Lamut has accumulated a total of 241 live birth registrations for the second quarter of 2023. It is lower by 28.5% from the total registered live births during the first quarter.

By gender disaggregation, there were more male registration (51.9%) than female registration (48.1%).

For the total registered live births by month, the month of June has the highest registrations taking 37.3% of the total registered live births. It was followed by the month April and May with 32.8% and 29.9%, respectively.

Table 1 illustrates the total registered live births by registration, that 91.3% were timely registered and 8.7% were late or delayed registrations. The month of April recorded the highest timely registered births while the month of June recorded the highest delayed registered births.

Figure 1 indicates the total of registered live births by legitimacy status that there were 56% legitimate babies and 44% were illegitimate babies. The number of legitimate and illegitimate born babies were almost equal.

By place type of birth, a total of 224 or 92.9% were born at different medical facilities like birthing clinics, rural health units, and hospitals. Home births totaled to 17 or 7.1% of the total registered live births.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION

The municipality of Lamut has recorded a total of 39 registered marriages for the second quarter of 2023. During the first quarter, Lamut has recorded a total of 40 registered marriages, it is lower by 3%.

For the total registered marriages by month, the month of May recorded the most at 38.5%. It was followed by the month of May and April with 35.9% and 25.6%, respectively. By registration status, all marriages were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

Figure 2 presents the total registered marriages by place type of ceremony that among the types of ceremonies, wedding rites officiated by other religious rites recorded the highest taking 35.9% of the total registered marriages in the municipality for the second quarter. It was followed by wedding rites officiated by the Roman Catholic church with 33.3%, and civil wedding rites with 30.8%. There were no occurrences of weddings officiated by tribal religions.

Figure 3 shows the total registered marriages by place type that among the place types for marriage, weddings held at the church recorded the highest taking 61.5% of the total registered marriages for in the municipality of Lamut for the second quarter. It was followed by weddings held at the mayor’s office and/or court with 30.8%, and weddings held at home with 7.7%. There were no occurrences of marriages that was held on barangay halls and/or other specified places.

DEATH REGISTRATION

Death registration in the municipality of Lamut totaled to 33, it is lower by 38.9% from first quarters total registered deaths.

For the total registered deaths by month, the month of April recorded the most with 45.5% deaths. It was followed by the month of June and May with 33.3% and 21.2%, respectively. More so, by sex disaggregation, male death registration was higher than female registration.

Table 2 shows the total registered deaths by civil status wherein deaths with single status were at 30.3%, married at 51.5% and widow/widowers with 18.2%. Moreover, most were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

For the total registered deaths by place type, 54.5% occurred at medical facilities while 45.5% occurred at their respective homes.

 

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 

Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.

 

Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and all such events that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.

 

Municipal Form No. 102 (Certification of Live Birth) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the birth of a person for purpose of registration.

 

Municipal Form No. 103 (Certification of Death) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a person for purposes of registration.

 

Municipal Form No. 97 (Certification of Marriage) is used to record information pertaining to the marriage of the contracting parties. It contains information regarding the groom and the bride.

 

Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such a birth is considered live born.

 

Marriage is contract of permanent union between man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

 

Death refers to the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live births has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital function without capability of resuscitation).

 

Foetal death refers to death prior to the complete expulsion or extraction of a product of conception from its mother, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy.

 

Legitimate refers to a child conceived or born during a valid marriage of parents.

 

Illegitimate refers to a child conceived and born outside of a valid marriage of parents.

 

This release contains statistical tables and graphs encompassing the vital event – births, marriages & deaths occurring in the municipality of Lamut.

 

Data on births, deaths and marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Live Birth (Municipal Form 102), Certificate of Death (Municipal Form 103) and Certificate of Marriage (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Office in Ifugao. Information included births, deaths and marriages registered in April to June 2023.
