This Special Release presents data on marriage certificates registered at the Local Civil Registry Offices in the ten municipalities of the province for the third quarter of 2020 and 2021 and forwarded to the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Data were tabulated from the DVSS. Thus, statistics presented here is preliminary.

Registered Marriages in Mountain Province in the Third Quarter of 2021 is 188

Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province during the 3rd quarter of 2021 reached 188. This is 55.37 percent higher than the registered marriages in the same quarter of 2020 recorded at 121. In the same quarter of 2019, the registered marriages in the province is 140.

About Three in Every Ten Marriages in Mountain Province is Recorded in Bauko

According to records by municipality, Bauko recorded the greatest number of marriages at 48 which is 25.53 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about three in every ten marriages in the Mountain Province is recorded in this municipality. This is followed by Paracelis at 31 marriages or 16.49 percent of the total and the Capital Town Bontoc at 25 or 13.30 percent.

In 2020, the highest number is still recorded in Bauko.

Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Timely Registered

Of the total registered marriages in the province for the 3rd quarter of 2021, 186 or 98.94 percent are timely registered. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a 30-day reglementary period is set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages who were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.
 
Only Paracelis recorded 2 late registrations for the quarter.
 
 
About Seven in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil
 
According to the type of ceremony, 130 marriages or 69.15 percent of the total were civil weddings. This means that almost 7 in every 10 marriages were civil weddings. 42 marriages or 22.34 percent were solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining number are blessed by the Roman Catholic Church.
 
Two in Every Ten Civil Marriages in the Province are in Bauko
 
Of the 130 civil marriages registered in Mountain Province in the 3rd quarter of 2021, 28 or 21.54 percent happened in Bauko. 16.15 percent occurred in Tadian and 13.08 percent were registered in Paracelis.
 
It is observed that all records in Barlig and Sadanga are civil marriages. For Bauko, 27.08 percent of its marriages were solemnized by other religious rites while 8.33 percent were sanctified by the Roman Catholic Church.

About Five in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old

According to the groom’s age, majority of men who got married in the 3rd quarter of 2021 are under the age group 25 to 29 years. There are 85 gentlemen that accounted to 45.21 percent of all the grooms. They are followed by age groups 20 to 24 years at 21.81 percent and 30 to 34 years at 18.09 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 85.11 percent of all grooms in Mountain Province in the quarter.
 
The oldest groom is within the age group 60 to 64 years.
 

About Three in Every Ten Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Bauko

Of the 85 gentlemen in the province who got married in the 3rd quarter of the year and are aged 25 to 29 years, 25.88 percent were registered in Bauko. This means that about three in every ten grooms aged 25 to 29 years are listed in this municipality.

About Five in Every Ten Grooms in Mountain Province are Roman Catholic

According to groom’s religion, majority of them are Roman Catholic as they comprised 47.87 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in the 3rd quarter of 2021. Of these grooms, 24.44 percent were from Bauko while 16.67 percent each hail from Bontoc and Paracelis.

About four in Every Ten Brides are 25 to 29 Years Old

Of the 188 registered brides in Mountain Province in the 3rd quarter of this year, 82 or 43.62 percent are 25 to 29 years old. This is followed by age groups 20 to 24 years old at 31.91 percent and 30 to 34 years old at 12.23 percent. Their combined share comprises 87.77 percent of all the brides in the province. It is also observed that the oldest bride that got married during the quarter is within the age group 50 to 54 years.

Three in Every Ten Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years are in Bauko

According to municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years are in Bauko with 24 brides which is 29.27 percent of the total brides in the province of this age. This is followed by Bontoc and Paracelis with 13.41 percent each.
