WHEREAS, the annual celebration of the National Statistics Month (NSM) aims to enhance region-wide awareness and appreciation of the value and importance of statistics to the different sectors, and to elicit the support and cooperation of the public to statistical activities by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 647 issued on 20 September 1990 by then President Corazon C. Aquino;
WHEREAS, the threat of the pandemic requires us to make use of innovations made possible through optimized use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and transformative ways in delivering statistical products and services;
WHEREAS, the 31st NSM celebration has the theme, "Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available to All" which focuses in making information accessible to all by addressing the digital divide and gaps in information and communication technology (ICT) challenging the delivery of government products and services to users;
WHEREAS, by taking advantage of the ICT available and emerging opportunities offered by new technologies, the public and private agencies are encouraged to participate and conduct activities in support of the 31st NSM for the whole month of October 2020, and promote the NSM celebration by featuring the NSM poster and theme in various means and media/channels while following established safety and health measures;
WHEREAS, participating agencies and organizations enrolled NSM activities for the whole month of October 2020 in the form of seminars/webinars, online exhibits, publication of statistical reports, indicators and other relevant statistical information, showing of audiovisual presentations, and display/hanging of the NSM streamer/poster and through the posting in online and social media platforms;
WHEREAS, all the NSM activities submitted were consolidated to become the NSM Regional Calendar of Activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, BE IT:
RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the RSC-CAR approves the 2020 Regional Calendar of Activities in celebration of the 31st NSM, and enjoins the public and private agencies and organizations to conduct activities in support of the NSM;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the PSA-CAR shall provide the agencies/institutions with the consolidated 31st NSM Regional Calendar of Activities;
RESOLVED FINALLY, that the agencies, LGUs and institutions shall furnish the RSC-CAR through the PSA-CAR as RSC Secretariat with reports on the conducted NSM activities on or before November 15, 2020 for documentation and learning purposes.
