WHEREAS, Presidential Proclamation No. 647 issued on September 20, 1990 by then President Corazon C. Aquino declared the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month (NSM);

WHEREAS, the annual observance of the NSM aims to: a) to promote, enhance and instill the nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and b) to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country;

WHEREAS, the NSM celebration for this year has the theme: “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development” to highlight the contribution of the tourism sector in nation-building;  

WHEREAS, the NSM theme emphasizes the need for obtaining reliable statistics on tourism to come up with appropriate programs and policies for sustainable development, and to help policy makers in addressing challenges in the tourism sector;

 WHEREAS, the Philippine Statistical Development Plan (PSDP) 2018-2023 as well as the CAR Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) 2017-2023 outlines statistical activities for the tourism sector in support  to the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, AmBisyon Natin 2040, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve sustainable and progressive tourism growth;

WHEREAS, the public and private agencies are encouraged to conduct activities in support of the NSM which may be in the form of symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, slide shows and publication of statistical reports, indicators, and other relevant information in accordance with the capabilities of the participating agencies and organizations, and to display/hang the NSM streamer in office building facades;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, BE IT:

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the RSC-CAR invites all public and private agencies in the Cordillera Administrative Region to support and actively participate in the celebration of the 29^th National Statistics Month this October 2018;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the PSA-CAR shall provide the agencies/institutions with the consolidated 29^th NSM Regional Calendar of Activities;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that the agencies, LGUs and institutions shall furnish the RSC-CAR through the PSA-CAR as RSC Secretariat with reports on the conducted NSM activities on or before November 15, 2018 for documentation.
