27 December 2024 – BANGUED, ABRA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) reaffirms its commitment to providing an inclusive Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), ensuring equal access for all. The PSA Abra PSO PhilSys Registry Team (PRT) conducted Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns and distributed PhilSys advocacy materials, promoting and enhancing public awareness about the system’s benefits, functionality, acceptance, and usage.

PhilSys Focal Person (PFP) Jonnel P. Aveño spearheaded the IEC campaign on PhilSys during the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) and National ID Mobile Registration in Bucloc, Abra on December 2-4, 2024. PFP Aveño discussed to the students of Abra Mountain Development Education Center (AMDEC), residents, and LGU personnel the overview of the Republic Act 11055, also known as the “Philippine Identification System Act” or “PhilSys Act” of 2018. PFP Aveño presented the salient features of the RA 11055. He explained the importance and benefits of PhilSys registration, particularly for members of the 4Ps program and other social protection beneficiaries. He added that social protection beneficiaries are required to present their PhilID when receiving cash assistance from the government. PFP Aveño explained the National ID process, enlightening the audience on why the National ID takes time before its delivery. He also discussed the different forms of the National ID—the PhilID, ePhilID, and Digital National ID—which can be used in both public and private transactions. Aside from the IEC campaigns, the PFP and Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez visited various Local Government Units (LGUs), financial institutions such as remittance centers and banks, and private institutions which cater identification processes. PFP Aveño & IO I Perez distributed stickers endorsing the acceptance of the National ID, regardless of its form. They also distributed flyers which showcased the National ID Check and National eVerify, the authentication services ensuring authenticity of the National ID presented. PFP Aveño also demonstrated how to use the National ID Check. This collaborative effort marks a pivotal milestone, facilitating seamless transactions through National ID acceptance. It enhances efficiency, accessibility and inclusivity, bridging public and private services for all individuals.

The acceptance of the PhilID, whether it is in card form, printable form, and digital form, enables efficient transactions, enhanced security, and improved access to public services. This initiative of the PSO supports the PSA’s goal of establishing a comprehensive national identification system.
