28 May 2025 – BANGUED, ABRA. In its continuous effort to make government services more accessible to communities, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted a National ID Mobile Registration and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign in Barangay Ba-ug, San Juan, Abra on May 21, 2025. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of San Juan and Barangay Local Government Unit of Ba-ug, who helped mobilize community participation, ensuring smooth and successful implementation of the activity.
The one-day activity offered on-site National ID Registration which was facilitated by Registration Officer II and National ID Focal Person Jonnel P. Aveño, allowing residents to complete their application to the National Identification System (National ID System). A total of 36 residents– including senior citizens, indigenous people, and other priority sectors – were successfully registered.
In addition to the registration, a comprehensive IEC campaign was held to educate the community on the importance and benefits of the National ID. Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez discussed several key topics such as Republic Act No. 11055, the law establishing the Philippine Identification System Act of 2018; its salient features; the National ID process; and the various formats of the National ID – the National ID card, National ID in paper form, and Digital National ID. The IO I emphasized that all three (3) formats of the National ID are equally valid and functional, and that both public and private institutions are mandated to accept them as official proof of identity. This clarification was aimed at addressing confusion and ensuring confidence among residents in using any version of the National ID for their transactions. And to reinforce the learning, IO I Perez also conducted brief question and answer portion to assess the participants’ understanding on the topics discussed. Winners received PSA tokens as prizes, making the session more engaging and interactive for the community.
The activity reflects the unwavering commitment of PSA abra to inclusive registration, digital empowerment, and the effective implementation of National Identification System across all sectors of society.
