Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990, “declaring the month of October of every year as National Statistics Month”, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Kalinga concludes the month-long celebration with the 28th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination and the Culminating Activity, held consecutively. The NSM celebration aims to promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and elicit the cooperation and support of the public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country.

The 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) Celebration featured the theme: “Advancing Data and Statistics through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.” This theme underscores the critical role of technology in enhancing statistical systems and the quality of statistics through the adoption of digital tools and platforms that optimize government services. These advancements aim to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of statistical data, ultimately enabling decision-makers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to develop evidence-based and data-driven policies for an empowered nation.

With this, PSA Kalinga facilitated the Provincial Elimination of the 28th PSQ, which was held at Kalinga State University Bulanao Campus on October 30, 2024. Three students from the said school will represent the Province of Kalinga at the Regional Level, as it was agreed that the top three representatives will compete in Baguio City. The champion received prizes worth 6,000 pesos, the second place received prizes worth 5,000 pesos, and the third place received prizes worth 4,000 pesos.

Meanwhile, the PSA Kalinga staff conducted a Culmination Activity featuring a Statistics Quiz on October 31, 2024, which highlighted the knowledge and awareness of all employees regarding field statistics. The winners of this activity were Ericka Kay T. Callueng, who was declared the champion, Janice B. Altero as the second placer, and Richelle G. Sagasag as the third placer.
