Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Ifugao has commenced the 2024 Population Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) data collection, starting with the Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ). This effort aims to gather comprehensive data on the basic profile of the barangays, including characteristics such as the types of service facilities and government projects present.

As part of this initiative, PSA – Ifugao is conducting orientations on the BPQ Data Collection and Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) Listing. These orientations are being held in various municipalities, targeting Punong Barangays, their officials, and representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office.

The orientation sessions kicked off last week with the following schedule:

•    May 15: Tinoc
•    May 16: Hungduan
•    May 17: Banaue

Upcoming sessions are scheduled as follows:

•    May 20: Alfonso Lista
•    May 21: Mayoyao
•    May 22: Hingyon
•    May 22: Asipulo
•    May 23: Aguinaldo
•    May 23: Lagawe
•    May 24: Lamut
 

The BPQ Data Collection and SFGP Listing are crucial components of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. They aim to:

To collect information on the characteristics of barangays such as the types of facilities and establishments present in the barangay.To gather an initial list of service facilities and government projects from barangays and cities/municipalities, which will serve as reference in the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS geotagging operations.To have an estimated number of facilities and government projects to be geotagged in the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS rollout.

The collected data on barangay profile shall be used to update the urban-rural classification of barangays. Meanwhile, the listing of service facilities and government projects shall serve as a reference file in the conduct of the geotagging of service facilities and government projects for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. Collectively, the data collected shall be used to come up with sound decisions in making programs and allocating resources for economic development and poverty alleviation.
