Tabuk City, Kalinga – On April 3, 2025, OIC-Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Gerard A. Tolito of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office - Cordillera Administrative Region (RSSO-CAR), together with the PSA Kalinga Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Maribel M. Dalayday, conducted a random check and audit at the City Civil Registry Office - Tabuk.
The random check and audit were conducted pursuant to the inspection and visitorial function of the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, in line with Section 11 of Republic Act No. 10625. This section grants the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General (NSCRG) the authority to conduct inspections and audits over the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) to ensure compliance with civil registration laws and maintain the integrity and accuracy of civil registry documents.
The primary objective of the random check and audit is to verify the proper maintenance and safeguarding of civil registry documents, assess compliance with existing laws, policies, and procedures, and identify areas for improvement in LCRO operations. These checks are crucial in ensuring that civil registration practices uphold the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.
During the activity, OIC-CAO Tolito and CSS Dalayday, together with their respective teams, thoroughly examined the records and processes at the City Civil Registry Office - Tabuk. The audit aimed to evaluate the proper handling and documentation of civil registry files and assess the office’s adherence to standardized protocols.
The PSA will also conduct the similar random check and audit in other municipalities within the province to ensure consistent compliance and accuracy in civil registration practices.
The PSA RSSO-CAR remains committed to upholding the accuracy and reliability of civil registry documents through continuous monitoring and evaluation. These efforts are part of the PSA's ongoing initiative to enhance the efficiency of local civil registration processes and ensure that all records are maintained according to legal standards.
