10 March 2025 – BANGUED, ABRA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) conducted a crucial information cascading session focused on the National Identification System (National ID System), for its staff on March 3, 2025 at Data Processing Room, PSA-Abra, DZPA Bldg., Rizal St., Zone 6, Bangued, Abra. The session led by Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez, aimed to ensure that all PSO Abra personnel were thoroughly updated on the latest procedures, policies, and developments related to the National ID System. Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Felixberto B. Perdido delivered the opening remarks, formally launching the activity. The CSS emphasized that it is crucial for all PSO personnel to be well-versed in the National ID (NID) System, regardless of whether they are directly involved in NID-related work. This is because, inevitably, clients or acquaintances may approach them with inquiries, given their association with the PSA.
The activity proper began with the Salient Features of RA No. 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System Act. This law establishes a single national identification system, providing valid proof of identity for Filipino citizens and resident aliens. The PSO staff learned about the key provisions and benefits of the law, which aims to improve the delivery of public services and reduce bureaucratic fraudulent activities. IO I Perez also elaborated on the National ID process, citing the reasons behind the lengthy period between registration and delivery of the ID card to the cardholder. The training also explored the Various Formats of National ID, including the National ID card, National ID in paper form, and Digital National ID. PSO personnel learned about the features and benefits of each format, as well as the process of obtaining and verifying National IDs. The Digital National ID, in particular, was highlighted as a secure and convenient way to access and verify one's identity online. The importance of being National ID-registered was emphasized, as it provides citizens with a valid proof of identity, making it easier to access public services, open bank accounts, and conduct transactions. Personnel were encouraged to promote the benefits of National ID registration to the public, particularly in remote and underserved areas. To address common concerns and issues related to the National ID, IO I Perez provided the participants with Standard Spiels on Addressing NID Concerns. This included guidance on how to respond to queries about the frequently asked questions regarding the National ID system. Finally, the IO I cascaded about the rebranding of the National ID. She explained the objectives of the rebranding, its scope, and also its limitations. And to conclude the activity, IO I Perez facilitated an interactive quiz to assess the learning of the participants on the topics discussed. Winners got cash as their prizes.
This initiative underscores PSA’s commitment to efficient and accurate implementation of NID System, ensuring that all personnel are equipped to address public inquiries and facilitate smooth registration and issuance processes and by equipping its staff with the necessary knowledge and skills, the PSA Abra aims to improve the implementation and promotion of the National ID system, ultimately benefiting the citizens of Abra and the country as a whole.
