The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – Abra, through its “Saritaan iti Abra” segment, featured the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO), highlighting its activities in celebration of PSA’s 11th Anniversary. The segment also provided updates on various programs, showcasing the achievements and milestones reached by the PSA Abra.

Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Felixberto B. Perdido shared that the PSA was established by the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which reorganized the Philippine Statistical System and repealed Executive Order No. 121 "Reorganizing and Strengthening the Philippine Statistical System and for Other Purposes". This act consolidated key statistical agencies, including the National Statistics Office, the National Statistical Coordinating Board, the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, and the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics.

CSS Perdido also emphasized that Republic Act (RA) No. 11055, the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act of 2018, and RA 11315, the Community-Based Monitoring System Act (CBMS) of 2019, further extended the agency's mandate.

In celebration of PSA’s 11th Anniversary, CSS Perdido mentioned that the PSO had planned a series of activities, including a Holy Mass, traditional Filipino games ("Laro ng Lahi"), lectures from the Bangko ng Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), a PSA exhibit, the Adopt-a-Daycare Program, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns, and National ID Mobile Registration.

Updates on PSO’s programs were also shared. CSS Perdido reported that over 80% of the target population in Abra has been registered in the Philippine Identification System, with ongoing efforts to reach the remaining unregistered individuals.  Regarding the CBMS, seven municipalities have completed data collection, with the remaining municipalities in the province still on progress. The next steps include map and data processing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected information. PSA regular personnel are also conducting re-interviews and supervision to maintain data quality.

CSS Perdido concluded by expressing gratitude to PIA Abra, Abra Today / DZPA CMN Abra, and all viewers. He commended the platform for raising public awareness about the agency and its initiatives, expressing hope for future collaborations.
