22 October 2024 – BANGUED, ABRA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) attended the 2nd day of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) – Abra Field Office 4th Quarter Technical Session on the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Program Implementation at parish Pastoral Center, Zone 6, Bangued, Abra on October 18, 2024. The attendance of PSA representative in the activity was intended to provide updates on the PhilSys Card Numbers (PCNs) of 4Ps beneficiaries and to discuss catch-up strategies for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration of those who are not yet registered.

The activity began with the preliminaries, followed by an introduction of the PhilSys personnel. PhilSys Focal Person (PFP) Jonnel P. Aveño presented the data on the PhilSys-registered 4Ps beneficiaries. The PFP emphasized that the PSO just began tabulating 4Ps beneficiaries in January 2023. PFP Aveño discussed the status of PhilSys registration in the province. Mr. Aveño also provided updates on the National ID, including the registration of children under five years old and the launch of Digital National ID and authentication services. PFP Aveño discussed the various formats of the National ID, including the PhilID, ePhilID, and Digital National ID. He emphasized that all forms of the National ID must be accepted by the government and private offices as stated in Republic Act No. 11055, and non-acceptance of the PhilID imposed penalties. Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez conducted a hands-on demonstration on the generation and verification of Digital National ID. IO I Perez explained that the Digital National ID and National ID Check are the ways PhilSys is working toward its goal of digitalization and citizen-centric services. The IO I also demonstrated the use of the National ID Check in authenticating the PhilID card, ePhilID, and Digital National ID. The PFP and IO I answered questions and concerns about PhilSys during the Open Forum. PFP Aveño thanked DSWD SWAD Abra for inviting the PSO to participate in their activity and pledged to support the 4Ps beneficiaries in any manner the PSO can.

The registration of 4Ps beneficiaries in the PhilSys demonstrates the commitment of PSA in ensuring that all Filipinos, especially the 4Ps who belong to the vulnerable and marginalized families, have secured and verifiable digital identity. National ID registration enables them to access various government services and social protection programs more efficiently. The PSA continues to encourage all 4Ps beneficiaries to participate in the ongoing National ID registration.
