The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) PhilSys Registry Team (PRT) participated in the “Municipal Caravan Programme Proper Socialization Night” held at Cogon Proper, Tineg, Abra on 8-9 May 2024.

The activity started at 8:03 P.M. with a “tadek” community dance, which was participated by the residents, LGU officials and employees, visitors from the different line agencies. This was followed by invocation and the singing of national anthem led by one of the students of Cogon Elementary School (CoES). Barangay Chairman Richie U. Batawang delivered his welcome remarks. Barangay Secretary Milson E. Selong acknowledged all the participants. The Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) Officers performed a “cultural dance”. Information Drive of the different departments and line agencies started after the intermission number. LGU departments were the first to conduct Information Drive, followed by representatives from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Kalahi, Philippine National Police (PNP), and Philippine Army. Students, barangay officials, and residents performed intermission numbers in between the Information Drive. 

The last one to talk was from PSA. Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez started her talk by greeting all the participants a pleasant midnight. IO I Perez introduced her name and colleagues namely: PhilSys Focal Person Jonnel P. Aveño and Registration Kit Operator Marc Lester L. Villamor. She discussed the main functions or services offered by the agency. The IO I enumerated the mandates of agency namely: (1) The Implementation of Republic Act No. 11055 otherwise known as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act of 2018 and

told that it’s the law about the National ID which is the service they are rendering to the public; (2) Production of Quality General-Purpose Statistics in which the agency conducts different surveys and censuses to collect and produce data which will be used by the various stakeholders and users of data. (3) Implementation of Civil Registration, wherein she reiterated the importance of registering different vital events such as birth, marriage, and death of an individual, court decrees, and legal instruments. She also shared that the Local Civil Registrar’s Office (LCRO), headed by MCR Lilet B. Calubing, is the partner of the office on the said mandate; and (4) Implementation of Republic Act 11315 otherwise known as the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Act of 2019. IO I Perez shared that the data collected in the CBMS is very important since it will serve as one of the bases in formulating plans and programs to alleviate poverty and for the betterment of a certain municipality or area. She also shared that this year will be the conduct of 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring Census (POPCEN-CBMS) and the partner department of the LGU on this mandate is the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) headed by MPDC Allan De Vera. IO I Perez expressed words of gratitude to Hon. Mayor Brethen Jireeh G. Crisologo for inviting the agency in their Municipal Caravan, which is an opportunity for the office to bring the services closer to the people. Ms. Perez also thanked the LCE for the support to the programs and projects of the agency. She expressed her hopes for the continued support and partnership with the PSA’s programs. IO I Perez also expressed her gratitude to MCR Calubing for the assistance all throughout the caravan and to the Barangay Officials of Cogon for the warm welcome. Hon. Mayor Crisologo delivered his closing remarks at 1:15 A.M. of 9 May 2024 to conclude the activity.
