5 February 2025 - BANGUED, ABRA. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) officially began the month-long celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) with a motorcade around the key areas of Bangued, the capital town of the province, on February 4, 2025. The activity was participated by the PSO personnel, Municipal Civil Registrars, Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) staff, and Philippine National Police (PNP) marshals. Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Felixberto B. Perdido was interviewed by DZPA Anchorman Intern Allen Jordan D. Tarona in the afternoon about the celebration of the 35th CRM.
The celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 issued by then President Corazon C. Aquino on January 28, 1991 declaring February of each year as Civil Registration Month. The theme for this year's CRM is "Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System." It underscores the PSA's commitment to deliver efficient civil registration services to the public.
Other activities that are lined up for the month-long celebration include the conduct of mobile registration in collaboration with the LCROs, participation to the Mass Wedding which will be conducted by the Local Government Units (LGUs), and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign in various municipalities to enhance public awareness on the importance and uses of civil registry documents. The PSO will also conduct training on the basic concepts of Civil Registration to PSA employees and CRS personnel and Training for Civil Registry System Outlets and PhilSys Registration Centers Personnel on Validation of Supporting Documents/IDs to CRS and National ID personnel. LCROs in the 27 municipalities will be issuing civil registry documents free of charge while SECPA copy of civil registry documents will be issued free to limited number of clients at the PSA - Abra CRS Outlet on the 27th of February.
This annual celebration serves as a reminder to Filipinos of their responsibility to register vital events and acts that affect their personal status. It also seeks to promote nationwide awareness and appreciation of the significance of civil registry documents, which hold legal, administrative, and statistical value.
