24 January 2024 – TINEG, ABRA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) strengthened its commitment to bringing services closer to the people. In collaboration with the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tineg, headed by Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) Lilet B. Calubing, and Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) Caganayan, Tineg, headed by Barangay Captain Melinda C. Guidang, the National Identification System (National ID System) Registry Team, conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign and Mobile Registration on National ID System in Caganayan, Tineg, Abra. The two-day activity, held on January 22-23, 2025, aimed to promote public awareness and enhance understanding of the system, ultimately bringing registration services closer to the community. The team also paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Mayor Brethen Jireeh G. Crisologo, Local Chief Executive (LCE) of LGU Tineg, before proceeding to the barangay.

Registration Officer II (RO II) and National ID Focal Person Jonnel P. Aveño led the activities. Registration Assistant Marc Lester L. Villamor facilitated the National ID Registration, registering 65 residents successfully. Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez spearheaded the IEC campaign on National ID System on January 23, 2025. She began by expressing gratitude to LGU Tineg, LCRO, and BLGU Caganayan for their unwavering support of PSA’s programs and activities. IO I Perez provided an in-depth overview of Republic Act 11055, also known as the “Philippine Identification System Act” or “PhilSys Act” of 2018, to the residents and LGU personnel. Ms. Perez highlighted the importance and benefits of being-National ID registered, which provides sufficient and single identification for registrants, particularly members of the 4Ps program and other social protection beneficiaries. The IO I added that these beneficiaries are required to present their National ID when receiving cash assistance from the government. She also enlightened the audience why the National ID takes time before its delivery. Ms. Perez discussed the different forms of the National ID—the PhilID, ePhilID, and Digital National ID—which can be used in both public and private transactions. To make the event more interactive, IO I Perez facilitated engaging game, with PhilSys shirts awarded to the winners. The session ended with an Open Forum, where Ms.

Perez addressed the audience’s concerns and queries, providing clarity and insights on the National ID System.

PSO Abra encourages all eligible residents to register for the National ID System, which will provide them with a valid proof of identity and facilitate access to various government services and social benefits. This initiative of the PSO is a significant step towards promoting inclusivity, efficiency, and transparency in the delivery of public services and supports the PSA’s goal of establishing a comprehensive national identification system.
