A. VOLUME OF PRODUCTION

Table 1 above shows the total annual volume of production of livestock by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
In table 1, the annual volume of livestock production in Ifugao declined by 5.87 percent in 2024, with a total of 4,341.25 metric tons. This reflects a decrease of 270.52 metric tons over the 2023 production level, which stood at 4,611.77 metric tons. This decrease was mainly attributed to a reduction in hog production, which fell by 8.65 percent, from 3,549.02 metric tons to 3,242.05 metric tons.
However, other livestock commodities experienced growth. Carabao production increased by 2.21 percent, rising from 336.35 metric tons in 2023 to 343.80 metric tons. Cattle production also showed a growth of 4.15 percent, from 608.03 metric tons to 633.25 metric tons. Similarly, goat production grew by 3.19 percent, from 118.37 metric tons to 122.15 metric tons.

table 2 above shows the total annual volume of production of poultry by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
In table 2, the annual volume of poultry production in Ifugao rose by 0.10 percent in 2024, reaching a total of 5,107.09 metric tons. This reflects an increase of 5.05 metric tons over the 2023 production level, which stood at 5,102.04 metric tons. Among the major commodities, chicken production grew by 1.60 percent, from 3,254.02 metric tons to 3,306.06 metric tons, contributing to the overall increase in poultry production. However, duck production experienced a slight decline of 0.42 percent, from 279.57 metric tons to 278.39 metric tons.
In terms of eggs, chicken egg production decreased by 3.74 percent, from 1,341.89 metric tons to 1,291.76 metric tons, while duck egg production saw a moderate increase of 1.91 percent, rising from 226.56 metric tons to 230.88 metric tons.
B. INVENTORY

Table 3 shows the annual total inventory of livestock by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
The total livestock inventory in Ifugao decreased by 5.22 percent in 2024, from 170,348 heads in 2023 to 161,451 heads. Among the major livestock commodities, cattle registered the largest decline at 16.69 percent, from 25,565 to 21,298 heads. This was followed by goat, which dropped by 6.53 percent, from 77,748 to 72,668 heads. A slight decrease of 0.70 percent was recorded in carabao inventory, from 23,247 to 23,085 heads. Meanwhile, hog inventory increased by 1.40 percent, from 43,788 heads in 2023 to 44,400 heads in 2024. Despite the increase in hog inventory, the overall livestock count declined year-on-year.

Table 4 shows the annual total inventory of poultry by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
The total chicken inventory in Ifugao increased by 10.96 percent in 2024, rising from 2,570,699 heads in 2023 to 2,852,396 heads. This growth was primarily driven by a significant increase in broiler chicken inventory, which expanded by 40.53 percent, from 457,000 to 642,200 heads. Native/improved chicken, which forms the bulk of the chicken population, also recorded a modest growth of 4.27 percent, increasing from 1,843,445 to 1,922,080 heads. In contrast, layer chicken inventory experienced a slight decline of 0.94 percent, from 270,254 to 267,716 heads.
Duck inventory in Ifugao increased by 9.45 percent, from 584,645 heads in 2023 to 639,878 heads in 2024.
Combining chicken and duck inventories, the total poultry population in Ifugao reached 3,492,274 heads in 2024 up from 3,155,344 heads in 2023 marking an overall increase of 10.68 percent.
C. Animals Slaughtered in Slaughterhouses and Birds Dressed in Dressing Plants

Table 5 shows the annual total of slaughtered livestock by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
The total slaughtered livestock in Ifugao decreased by 7.30 percent in 2024, from 47,521 heads in 2023 to 44,052 heads. This decline was primarily driven by a reduction in hog slaughter, which fell by 3,655 heads from 39,232 in 2024. Despite this decline, other commodities showed a slight increase. Among the individual commodities, carabao slaughtered in 2024 increased by 2.23 percent, rising from 1,209 heads in 2023 to 1,236 heads. Cattle slaughter also showed a modest increase of 4.16 percent, from 2,259 heads to 2,353 heads. Similarly, goat slaughter rose by 1.35 percent, from 4,821 heads to 4,886 heads.

Table 6 shows the annual total of dressed poultry by commodity in Ifugao for the years 2023 and 2024.
The total dressed poultry in Ifugao increased by 1.14 percent in 2024, rising from 2,272,008 heads in 2023 to 2,297,819 heads. This growth was driven primarily by chicken, which increased by 27,946 heads, from 2,143,618 heads in 2023. In contrast, the number of dressed ducks decreased by 2,135 heads, from 128,390 heads in 2023.
TECHNICAL NOTES
The data for this publication were collected by PSA through the two surveys, namely, Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) and the Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS).
Livestock refers to farm animals kept or raised for consumption, work, or leisure. For purposes of censuses and surveys, livestock covers only those that are tended and raised by an operator.
Poultry is a collective term for all domesticated avian for the purpose of food consumption or, the carcass of such avian dressed/processed for human consumption.
Livestock/Poultry Production refers to the volume of indigenous (locally-raised) animals disposed for slaughter plus animals exported or shipped-out for slaughter both in liveweight equivalent.
Animal Inventory (also, Animal Population) refers to the number of domesticated animals in head present in the farm at specific reference date.
Dressing refers to the progressive separation on the dressing floor of food animal into carcass, offal and inedible by- products.
Slaughter refers to butchering of animals for the purpose of human consumption.
Slaughterhouse/Dressing Plant refers to the premises that are approved and registered by a controlling authority in which food animals/birds are slaughtered and dressed for human consumption.
