This Special Release presents data on marriage certificates registered at the Local Civil Registry Offices in the ten municipalities of the province for the fourth quarter of 2020 and 2021 and forwarded to the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Data were tabulated from the DVSS. Thus, statistics presented here is preliminary.

Registered Marriages in Mountain Province in the Fourth Quarter of 2021 is 167

Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province during the 4th quarter of 2021 reached 167. This is 40.34 percent higher than the registered marriages in the same quarter of 2020 recorded at 119. In the same quarter of 2019, the registered marriages in the province is 168.

About One in Every Four Marriages in Mountain Province is Recorded in Bauko

According to records by municipality, Bauko recorded the greatest number of marriages at 41 which is 24.55 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about one in every four marriages in the Mountain Province is recorded in this municipality. This is followed by Bontoc at 33 marriages or 19.76 percent of the total and Paracelis at 24 or 14.37 percent.
 
In 2020, the highest number is still recorded in Bauko.
 
 
Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Timely Registered
 
Of the total registered marriages in the province for the 4th quarter of 2021, 164 or 98.20 percent are timely registered. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a 30-day reglementary period is set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages who were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.
 
Three municipalities- Bontoc, Sagada and Tadian recorded late registrations for the quarter.
 
 
About Six in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil
 
According to the type of ceremony, 101 marriages or 60.45 percent of the total are civil weddings. This means that almost 6 in every 10 marriages were civil weddings. 44 marriages or 26.35 percent were solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining number are either blessed by the Roman Catholic Church or tribal weddings.
 
About One in Every Four Civil Marriages in the Province is in Bontoc
 
Of the 101 civil marriages registered in Mountain Province in the 4th quarter of 2021, 25 or 24.75 percent happened in Bontoc; 17 marriages or 16.83 percent occurred in Tadian and 11 marriages each or 10.89 percent are registered in Sagada and Tadian.
 
It is observed that all records in Barlig and Besao are civil marriages while 2 tribal wedding occured in Bontoc and Tadian. For Natonin, 62.50 percent of its marriages are solemnized thru civil while 37.50 percent are sanctified by other religious rites.
 
 
About Four in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old
 
According to the groom’s age, majority of men who got married in the 4th quarter of 2021 are under the age group 25 to 29 years. There are 73 gentlemen that accounted to 43.71 percent of all the grooms in the province. They are followed by age groups 20 to 24 years at 22.16 percent and 30 to 34 years at 20.96 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 86.83 percent of all the grooms in Mountain Province in the quarter.
 
The oldest groom is within the age group 45 to 49 years.
 
 
About One in Every Four Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years is Registered in Bauko
 
Of the 73 gentlemen in the province who got married in the 4th quarter of the year and are aged 25 to 29 years, 26.03 percent are registered in Bauko. This means that about one in every four grooms aged 25 to 29 years is listed in this municipality.
 
About One in Every Two Grooms in Mountain Province are Roman Catholic
 
According to groom’s religion, majority of them are Roman Catholic as they comprised 47.90 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in the 4th quarter of 2021. Of these grooms, 25 percent are from Bauko while 20 percent hail from Bontoc and 12.50 percent are from Paracelis.
 
About Four in Every Ten Brides are 25 to 29 Years Old
 
Of the 167 registered brides in Mountain Province in the 4th quarter this year, 68 or 40.72 percent are 25 to 29 years old. This is followed by age groups 20 to 24 years old at 31.14 percent and 30 to 34 years old at 16.17 percent. Their combined share comprises 88.02 percent of all the brides in the province. It is also observed that the oldest bride that got married during the quarter is within the age group 45 to 49 years.
 
About One in Every Four Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years is in Bontoc
 
By municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years are in Bontoc with 16 brides which is 23.53 percent of the total brides in the province of this age. This is followed closely by Bauko at 22.06 percent and Sagada at 11.76 percent.
