Employed in the government sector in Apayao province was about seven-thousand eight-hundred fifty-one in count for both the national government offices, provincial and municipal local government units in 2022. There were more females employed in national offices. On the other hand, more males were employed in the local government units. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

In 2022, about 62.5 percent comprised those employed in national offices located in Apayao province and the remaining 37.5 percent were employed in provincial and municipal local government units. (Figure 2 and Table 1)

Of the total persons employed in national offices in the province in 2022, 59.9 percent were females and 40.1 percent were males. On the other hand, nearly half comprised females employed in the local government units. (Figure 3 and Table 1)

The sex ratio of 67 and 108 indicates that there were about 67 males and 108 males for every 100 females employed in national offices and local government units, respectively, in Apayao province in 2022.
Sex ratio of about 101 was observed in the Local Government Units for age group 20 to 49 years old. It went higher at age 50 and above. In contrast, sex ratio for persons employed in national offices was lower, however it likewise increased at age 50 and above. (Figure 4 and Table 1)

Age and Sex Distribution in Apayao Province, 2020
Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), Apayao province had a total population of 124,366 persons of which 123,937 persons comprised the household population. Of the 123,937 persons, 51.8 percent or 64,221 were males and 48.2 percent or 59,716 were females. Moreover, household population most belong to age group 10 to 14 years with males comprising 6,812 and females 6,200 or a total of 13,012 persons. The second age group were 15-19 years old with a total of 12,476 of which 6,396 were males and 6,080 were females. In close third group were 5 to 9 years old with a total of 12,088. Of this, 6,375 are males and 5,713 are females. At age 65 and over, women outnumber the men. (Figure 5 and Table 3)

Household Population by Municipality
The municipality of Conner had the biggest household population of 27,465, followed by Luna municipality with 21,172. The least was Calanasan municipality with 12,457. (Table 4)

2020 Sex Ratio
In 2020, Apayao province had a sex ratio of about 108. This means that there were 108 males for every 100 females. The computed sex ratio for age group 10 to 14 years old and for combined age group from 15 to 54 years old was 110. From 55 to 64 years old, the sex ratio was about 104, and further declined to 81 for age group 65 years and over. This depicts a longer life expectancy among females than males or a higher mortality rate among males than females in the older age groups. (Figure 6 and Table 3)
By municipality, Calanasan posted the highest sex ratio at 111 in 2020. It was followed closely by Kabugao municipality at 110. The least was Sta. Marcela municipality computed at 104. (Figure 6 and Table 4)

Data gathered on employment in the government sector (national, provincial and municipal local government units) in Apayao province captures those that were employed for the Year 2022. It excludes the barangay local government units due to time constraint.
