Registered Deaths in the Region decrease by 66 percent in the 4th Quarter of 2022

 

  • A total of 2,449 deaths were registered during the fourth quarter of 2022 in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The figure showed a sharp drop of 66 percent in the number of deaths from the previous year's record of 4069.
  • An average of  27 persons died daily or one person dying every hour in the Region.
  • Across provinces, Benguet ranked first in terms of the registered during the fourth quarter of 2022, with a total of 481 or 19.6 percent share of the total registered deaths in the Region.  Abra came in second with 383, followed by Kalinga with 256, Mt Province,  Apayao and Ifugao registered the least with 227, 223, and 189, respectively.
  • Comparing the two periods, all provinces recorded a decrease in the number of registered deaths from fourth quarter 2021 to fourth quarter of 2022. Benguet posted the highest percent decrease at 118 percent from 1,050 deaths in 2021 to 481 deaths in 2022. Follwed by Ifugao with 115 percent from 406 to 189 deaths.

Registered Deaths peaks in the month of November

  • During the fourth quarter of 2022,  mortality was at its peak in the month of November with total registered deaths of 856. The number of deaths in the month of October 2022 translates to an average of 27 death occurrences per day. December posted the lowest number of registered deaths with 769 or 25 percent.

Seven Out of Twenty Five Deaths Occurred in Baguio City

  • Among the cities in the Region, Baguio City has the highest number of deaths registered with 7 out 25 recorded deaths. Followed by the City of Tabuk with 161 recorded deaths.
  • La Trinidad, Benguet has the most recorded deaths among the municipalities in the Region with 171 registered deaths.
