Data on deaths presented in this special release were obtained from the Certificates of Death submitted by the City/Municipal Registrars in their monthly report throughout the region to the Philippine Statistics Authority – Provincial Statistical Office (PSO). Said data were encoded or uploaded into the Vital Events Information (VEI) in 2024 in the respective PSOs.

Figures presented herein cover the 4th quarter of 2024, which are still preliminary and may differ in the final counts.

 

Registered Deaths in the Region slightly increased in the 4th Quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

•    A total of 2,669 deaths were registered during the fourth quarter of 2024 in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The figure showed a slight increase of 0.48 percent in the number of deaths from the previous year's record of 2,656.

•    An average of 29 persons were registered daily or one person registered every hour in the region.

•    Among the provinces, Benguet ranked first in registered deaths during the fourth quarter of 2024 with a total of 520 or 19.5 percent share of the total registered deaths in the Region.  Abra came in second with 400, followed by Kalinga with 314, Mountain Province, Apayao, and Ifugao registered the least with 238, 222, and 199, respectively.

•    Comparing the two periods, almost all provinces recorded a decrease in the number of registered deaths from the 4th quarter of 2023 to the 4th quarter of 2024 except for Mountain Province and Kalinga which recorded a slight increase.

Registered Deaths peak in October 
•    During the fourth quarter of 2024, registration of deaths was at its peak in October with a total of 940 registered deaths. The number of deaths in October 2024 translates to an average of 10 deaths registered per day. November posted the lowest number of registered deaths with 843.

•    Among the cities in the Region, Baguio City has the highest number of deaths registered with 776 recorded deaths followed by the City of Tabuk with 195 recorded deaths.

•    La Trinidad, Benguet has the most recorded deaths among the municipalities in the Region with 186 registered deaths.
