MUNICIPALITY OF BANAUE
BIRTH REGISTRATION
Table 1 illustrates the total registered live births by month wherein the month of March recorded the most with 38% live births. It was followed by the month of January and February both with 31%. By sex disaggregation, 47% were male and 53% were female. Female registration was higher by 8.

Table 2 illustrates the total registered live births by registration, that 36.4% were timely registered and 63.6% were late or delayed registrations. Delayed registered births were higher by 32 than timely registered births. The month of February recorded the highest timely registered births, while the month of March recorded the highest delayed registrations.

Figure 1 indicates the total of registered live births by legitimacy status that there were 79% legitimate babies and 21% were illegitimate babies. Legitimate babies were higher by 32. More babies were born of wedlock.

Figure 2 indicates the total of registered live births by place type that there were more babies born at home with 72% than babies born in hospital with 28%.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION
Table 3 illustrates the total registered marriages by month wherein the month of January recorded the most at 42%. It was followed by the month of March and February with 37% and 21%, respectively. By registration status, all marriages were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

Figure 3 presents the total registered marriages by place type of ceremony that among the types of ceremonies, wedding rites officiated by the Roman Catholic Church and civil wedding rites had the highest registered marriages both with 37%, followed by other religious rites 26%. There was no occurrence of weddings solemnized by any tribal religion.

Figure 4 shows the total registered marriages by place type that among the place types for marriage, weddings held at the church and at the mayor’s office had the highest number of registered marriages both with 37%, followed by home wedding with 26%, there were no occurrence of marriages in the barangay and/or any other places.

DEATH REGISTRATION
Table 4 illustrates the total registered deaths by month wherein the month of January recorded the most with 42% deaths. It was followed by the month of February and March both with 29%. More so, it also shows that by sex disaggregation, 48% were females and 52% were males.

Table 5 shows the total registered deaths by civil status wherein deaths with single status were at 19%, married at 38% and widow/widowers with 43%. Moreover, majority were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

Figure 5 indicates the total registered deaths by place type wherein all registered deaths occurred at home and there was no occurrence of death in the hospital.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.
Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and all such events that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.
Municipal Form No. 102 (Certification of Live Birth) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the birth of a person for purpose of registration.
Municipal Form No. 103 (Certification of Death) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a person for purposes of registration.
Municipal Form No. 97 (Certification of Marriage) is used to record information pertaining to the marriage of the contracting parties. It contains information regarding the groom and the bride.
Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such a birth is considered live born.
Marriage is contract of permanent union between man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
Death refers to the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live births has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital function without capability of resuscitation).
Foetal death refers to death prior to the complete expulsion or extraction of a product of conception from its mother, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy.
Legitimate refers to a child conceived or born during a valid marriage of parents.
Illegitimate refers to a child conceived and born outside of a valid marriage of parents.
This release contains statistical tables and graphs encompassing the vital event – births, marriages & deaths occurring in the municipality of Banaue.
Data on births, deaths and marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Live Birth (Municipal Form 102), Certificate of Death (Municipal Form 103) and Certificate of Marriage (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Office in Ifugao. Information included births, deaths and marriages registered in January to March 2023.
