The Philippine Statistics Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) conducted its 2023 second level operational training for Cereals Surveys at Prince Plaza Hotel, Legarda Road, Baguio City from 20-24 March 2023. The training included Palay Production Survey (PPS), Corn Production Survey (CPS), Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Reporting System (MPCSRS) and Rice and Stocks Survey (Household and Commercial).

Central Office staff Statistical Specialist II Joy de Guzman from the Crops Statistics Division (CSD) of the Economic Sector Statistics Section (ESSS), Senior Statistical Specialist Ma. Gina de Guzman of PSA-CAR, and Statistical Analyst Elsie Manzano of PSA-Mountain Province served as resource persons during the 5-day training. Among the topics discussed were survey methodology, field operation procedures, manual and machine data processing and data review and validation.

The data generated from these surveys will serve as inputs to Value of Production in Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries, preparation of Gross Regional Domestic Product and Provincial Product Accounts, accordingly. Moreover, the survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector, particularly the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached agencies such as Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF).
