The Philippine Statistics Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) recently conducted the Online Dissemination of the July 2023 Cordillera Inflation Rate (IR) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) last 25 July 2023 via Zoom. This was participated by Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), academe, and the media.

PSA-CAR Assistant Statistician Lorie Ann M. Bucagan reported that the CPI of CAR increased from 118.6 in June 2023 to 119.0 in July 2023. The average CPI of the region from January 2023 to July 2023 was 119.1. The July 2023 inflation rate of the region was 0.3 percentage points lower than the previous month at 3.2 percent. The inflation rate in CAR decreased to 2.9 percent due to lower prices in Transport; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels; and Restaurants and Accommodation Services.

The major contributors to the June 2023 inflation of CAR were the Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages with a share of 84.9 percent, Restaurants and Accommodation Services with 7.2 percent, and Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 5.8 percent.

PSA-CAR Chief Statistical Specialist Aldrin Federico R. Bahit, Jr. presented the draft of the Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) 2023-2029 and facilitated the workshop where different offices and agencies provided inputs for the RSDP’s vision, mission, goals and strategies. Mr. Bahit reported that there were a total of 144 statistical programs and activities submitted where 46 belong to the economic sector statistics, 50 in the social sector statistics, and 48 in the environment and multi-domain sector statistics. The RSDP 2023-2029 will be presented in the third quarter 2023 Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) – CAR meeting for approval and adoption, and to be endorsed for adoption to the Regional Development Council (RDC) of CAR during the RDC Third Quarter Meeting this September 2023.
