The Philippine Statistics Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) successfully conducted the Second Level Training on the Retail Price Survey (RPS) for the Generation of Consumer Price Index and the Wholesale Price Survey (WPS) of Selected Agricultural Commodities on June 24-25, 2025, at Prince Plaza Hotel, Baguio City.
This regional activity followed the Task Force Training held at the PSA Central Offfice on May 27–29, 2025, which provided updated guidelines and quality assurance protocols for RPS and WPS operations nationwide.
The RPS and WPS are regular statistical activities that gather price data from various establishments and trading centers. These serve as the primary inputs in computing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Wholesale Price Index (WPI) - key economic indicators used to measure changes in the prices of goods and services over time. These indicators are released monthly via the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Inflation Report covering the entire region.
PSA-CO Senior Statistical Specialist Angel Nepomuceno and PSA-CAR Supervising Statistical Specialist Warren Mamanteo served as trainers during the activity.

Although not originally part of the program, the training also included a discussion on the CPI press briefing materials. This prompted Mr. Nepomuceno to lead a run-through of all relevant materials to enhance CPI dissemination efforts in the region.
Interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session allowed participants to raise field concerns and clarify survey procedures. The event was attended by field staff and focal persons from PSA provincial offices across the Cordillera region and was facilitated by the RSSO-CAR team.
PSA-CAR reaffirms its commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality statistical information in support of national and local development.
