
The registration status per municipality of Benguet was highlighted by Information Officer I Zhein Carlo Molina during the PSC First Quarter Meeting.
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – To inform the Provincial Statistics Committee on the National ID updates, the Philippine Statistics Authority through Information Officer I Zhein Carlo Molina discussed the registration status of Benguet and Baguio City in the National ID System on March 4 at the at the Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Gloriosa Hall.
IO Molina said that as of February this year, the National ID Registration Team had already recorded 337, 201 individuals from Benguet out of the 460,683 total population based on the 2020 Census. Meanwhile, Baguio City has now 340,959 individuals registered over the 366,358 total population.
He also emphasized that the municipalities of Tublay, Kapangan, Kabayan, and Bokod have the most numbers of registered individuals based on the registration percentage in accordance with the 2020 Census of Population, recording 92.13-percent, 82.45-percent, 81.80-percent, and 80.25-percent, respectively.
More so, IO Molina shared about the new services of the National ID, which is called “Rehistro Bulilit.” This allows children aged 1 to 4 to be registered in the system and avail their own valid proof of identity. Furthermore, the Digital National ID was promoted for easier access, highlighting that it is a valid proof of identity just like any other forms like the National ID Card and National ID in paper format.
He likewise tackled about the rebranding of the National ID, clarifying that the then “PhilSys Card” is now rebranded to “National ID.” This is under the PhilSys Policy and Coordination Council Resolution No. 30 Series of 2024, which aims to promote broader acceptance and use of National ID among the public as the term “National ID” is more universally understood and recognized.
