PSA Benguet conducts the Pilot Redesigned Crops Production Survey (CrPS) for the 3rd Quarter 2022

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Benguet Provincial Office will conduct the Pilot Redesigned Crops Production Survey (CrPS) for the third quafter ot 2022 simultaneous with the third quarter CrPS regular activity this Augusl2022.

The Pilot Redesigned CrPS will be conducted to test the effectiveness of the newlydeveloped sample design. Specifically, the objectives of the redesigned survey are:

• a. To conduct parallel run of the redesigned and the current design of CrPS;

• b. To assess the survey results of the parallel run by survey round; and

• c. To be able to recommend the best methodology for implementation.

The major data items to be collected are the following:

• a. volume of production by crop, by quarter in the province;

• b. area planted/harvested by crop, by quarter in the province;

• c. number of bearing trees/hills/vines by crop, by quarter in the province; and

• d. list of rare crop operators.

The pilot survey will be conducted on August 19-31,2022 with 251 sample household and 8 establishments in the province. Results of the survey are expected to be presented to the PSA Board in November 2022. The Pilot Redesigned CrPS was reviewed and cleared for the conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of the lmplementing Rules and Regulations (lRR) of the Republic Act (RA) 10625 to:

• a. ensure sound design for data collection;

• b. minimize the burden plac€d upon respondents;

• c. effect economy in statistical data collection;

• d. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and

• e. achieve better coordination of govemment statistical activities.

Under Section 26 of RA 10625, the information gathered from the respondent will be held strictly confidential and cannot be used for purpose of taxation, investigation or enforcement procedure, nor will be published except in the form of statistical summaries in which no reference to any individual person shall appear.

ln line with this, the PSA Benguet Provincial Statistical Office asks for the cooperation of the barangay officials and the farmer-producers of crops to support and participate in the survey by providing the information needed. Statistical Researchers (SR) will visit the household to conduct personal interview.
