Santa Marcela, Apayao – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Apayao successfully turned over the 2022 CommunityBased Monitoring System (CBMS) data to the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Santa Marcela, Apayao during a ceremonial turnover on January 11, 2024 at the EKB Clubhouse, Santa Marcela, Apayao.
The activity is a significant milestone for the municipality as they lead the conduct of the said census in partnership with the PSA. Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez and Department Heads of Santa Marcela participated the ceremony. Symbolically, the data in a flash drive was turned over to the municipal leaders and officials, who subsequently signed the data turnover agreement with stipulations on the strict data security protection pursuant to the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Mayor Martinez expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Provincial Government of Apayao through Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., PSA, and 2022 CBMS workforce of LGU Santa Marcela for their crucial role in helping achieve the community's aspirations to have a comprehensive data for their local planning. The Municipal Mayor, Evelyn B. Martinez, is also thankful to all barangay captains and enumerators who worked on it. Further, she emphasized that the same will be of great help for us to go on in public service, not just for us but, more importantly, for the generations to come.
PSA-CAR Regional Director Villafe P. Alibuyog expressed appreciation to the LGU Santa Marcela on their successful efforts in achieving these accomplishments. Furthermore, she stated that the same would be utilized as the foundation for developing plans, programs, and activities for the municipality and the province as a whole. Dr. Chowen Jay P. Arellano, Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS Provincial Focal Person of PSO Apayao presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results of the municipality. He also presented the highlights of the Household and Barangay Profile Questionnaire results. Data on essential services such as power, internet, water, toilet facilities, safety, food insecurity, and disaster readiness
Dr. Chowen Jay P. Arellano, Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS Provincial Focal Person of PSO Apayao presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results of the municipality. He also presented the highlights of the Household and Barangay Profile Questionnaire results. Data on essential services such as power, internet, water, toilet facilities, safety, food insecurity, and disaster readiness are included in the presentation. He also underlined the need for consistent support from the local leaders to PSA surveys and censuses.
Mayor Martinez, and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Lary A. Balanay of LGU Santa Marcela; accepted the data with gratitude, assurance, and commitment to use it with utmost care and maximize its potential in their policymaking and program planning to help improve the lives of their constituents.
In addition, MPDC Balanay presented their plans to be prioritized using the 2022 CBMS data, emphasizing the importance of data security in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
CSS Calimuhayan delivered his closing message and he expressed thanks to the Provincial LGU, and the leaders of Santa Marcela MLGU for their support and contributions to the success of CBMS implementation in the province of Apayao. With our collective efforts, may we continue to collaborate and work together to ensure that the data we have collected will be utilized to its full potential. Let us work towards a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive community that values the use of data in effectively providing better quality and efficiency in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating government services.
This historic event represents a huge step forward in the use of data for informed decision-making, bringing a strong collaborative attitude toward community development to success.
