Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) PhilSys Focal Person (PFP) Jonnel P. Aveño, representing Chief Statistical Specialist Felixberto B. Perdido, participated in the “Aldaw ti Panagkalap” (Harvest Field Day) of the Tilapia Culture Ponds Project of the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-BFAR-CAR) on February 14, 2024 at Barangay Callao, Villaviciosa, Abra. The activity showcased the livelihood technology and intervention for possible adoption of fisherfolks and other stakeholders. 

The activity started with the harvesting of tilapia by the fisherfolks, followed by a photo opportunity with all the participants. The program proper formally started with a prayer and acknowledgment of the participants. Barangay Chairman Jayson B. Belmes delivered the welcome remarks. BFAR-CAR Regional Director Lilibeth L. Signey delivered her message. RD Signey recognized the fisherfolks of Villaviciosa for being commendable. She also said that whenever the statistical researchers from PSA conducts survey, they should be honest with the data they are giving because the data gathered will be the basis of the agency in the allocation of fund and formulation of programs and projects for the fisherfolks. Municipal Agriculturist Hermina C. Bolaoit also delivered her message. She commended the fisherfolks of Villaviciosa for doing their part in the Aquaculture industry and for the economy of Villaviciosa. PFP Aveño gave a message. He shared that the PSA is conducting surveys on Aquaculture and Inland Fisheries. He highlighted the increase of 9.44 percent in the production of Aquaculture in the province in the 3^rd Quarter of 2023. PFP Aveño told that the interventions of BFAR to the community benefit the fisherfolks and the aquaculture industry. He made sure that the PSA commits to deliver relevant and reliable statistics. He expressed words of gratitude to DA-BFAR-CAR for inviting the agency in such remarkable and meaningful activity. Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Provincial Extension Office (PEO) Supervisor Mercury D. Pascua discussed the criteria and qualifications in claiming insurance whenever fishponds are destroyed by fortuitous events. He also distributed the checks to qualified beneficiaries. The fisherfolks gave response and had intermission number after the response. The activity ended with the closing remarks delivered by Provincial Fisheries Officer Riza P. Fidchao of Abra Provincial Fisheries Office.
