The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Abra Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) PhilSys Registry Team (PRT) conducted Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign and rendered PhilSys services at Caganayan, Tineg, Abra on February 1-2, 2024. This is in response to the request of Barangay Chairperson Melinda C. Guidang to conduct PhilSys Step 2 Registration in their barangay.
PhilSys Focal Person (PFP) Jonnel P. Aveño, Information Officer I (IO I) Angelee Ann B. Perez, and Registration Kit Operator (RKO) Marc Lester L. Villamor went to the Office of the Local Chief Executive of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tineg and had a courtesy call to Hon. Mayor Brethen Jireeh G. Crisologo before conducting PhilSys services in the barangay. The Abra PhilSys Registry Team (PRT) travelled to Caganayan, Tineg at 9:10 A.M. and arrived at 10:01 A.M. They immediately set-up the registration kit upon arrival. The Abra PRT encountered a difficulty in setting-up the registration kit due to internet connection issues. The barangay does not have a signal connectivity and relies only on “PISO WiFi”. IO I Perez began screening the supporting documents and the PhilSys Form1A of the registrants while PFP Aveño & RKO Villamor were troubleshooting the registration devices. RKO Villamor immediately started the registration after the registration devices were troubleshooted. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign was also conducted simultaneously to enhance public awareness particularly on PhilSys and on ePhilID. IO I Perez discussed briefly Republic Act No. 11055, otherwise known as the Philippine Identifcation System (PhilSys) Act of 2018 and she informed the registrants about the benefits of PhilSys and the necessity of being PhilSys-registered especially for registrants who are members of 4Ps and social protection beneficiaries. PFP Aveño discussed the ePhilID. He told that it is a proactive strategy of PSA that allows registrants to immediately enjoy the benefits of being PhilSys-registered and that the ePhilID is not temporary in nature and has the same functionality and validity as the physical PhilID card. He also showed an ePhilID for reference and showed what are the demographic data that can be seen in the ePhilID. PFP Aveño and IO I Perez distributed IEC campaign materials. PFP Aveño also accepted two (2) requests for Replacement of Lost PhilIDs due to natural calamities. The Abra PRT registered 65 registrants over the 38 potential target registrants in their two-day fieldwork in one of the remote and far-flung barangays of the province. The Abra PRT expressed their gratitude to the barangay officials for accommodating the team in the conduct of PhilSys services in their barangay. Barangay Chairperson Melinda C. Guidang also expressed words of gratitude to PSA and to Abra PRT for delivering the services closer to the people of Caganayan.
