The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted the 7th Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Summit last 5 December 2022 at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila. The summit is held annually in recognition of RSC’s vital role as the policymaking body on statistical matters at the regional level.
The said activity adopted the theme “Rebuilding the Economy with Better LocalLevel Statistics” provided a forum for the exchange of regional best practices, innovations, and accomplishments in the development of local-level statistics for economic recovery. It functioned as a forum for discussion of emerging issues and concerns at the subnational level.
PSA Officer-in-Charge Deputy National Statistician (OIC-DNS) Minerva Eloisa P. Esquivias welcomed the participants and expressed hope that the Summit will further strengthen partnership through effective collaboration, enhanced learning, and improved knowledge-sharing to attain innovative and empowered RSCs.
The eagerly awaited Best RSC Awards for 2022 recognized RSCs for their outstanding work from the third quarter of 2021 to the second quarter of 2022. Having accumulated the highest overall score across all regions, RSC IV-A CALABARZON garnered the top spot. RSC XI and RSC CAR tied for the 2 nd place while RSC VIII was 3rd place and RSC NCR got the 4th place. Meanwhile, RSC CARAGA bagged the Breakthrough RSC Award for 2022.
Participants from PSA Board member agencies, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Directors who are also RSC Chairs, PSA Regional Directors, representatives from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), Local Government Units (LGUs) and various regional line agencies, academe, and PSA officials and staff, attended the hybrid conduct of the 7th RSC Summit.
