The province’s palay production from January to June 2021 was estimated at 39,738.92 metric tons. It dropped by 21.0 percent from its level in the same period a year ago of 50,294.76 metric tons. In 2019 to 2021 reference period, output was highest in 2020. (Figure 1, and Tables 1 to 3)

By quarter, the bulk of the January to June 2021 palay production came from the second quarter with 93.4 percent, and the remaining 6.6 percent was from the first quarter. (Figure 2, and Tables 1 to 3)

Harvest area was more than 10,700 hectares during the 2019 to 2021 reference period with second quarter as the major period of harvest. (Figure 3, and Tables 1 to 3)

Yield per hectare for January to June 2021 decreased by 21.0 percent, from 4.66 metric tons in the same period of 2020 to its current level of 3.68 metric tons. By quarter, yield performance for the first quarter was higher than the second quarter in the three-year period. (Figure 1, and Tables 1 to 3)

Of the total palay output from January to June 2021, the huge bulk was produced from irrigated areas at 36,295.28 metric tons, which represents 91.3 percent. Likewise, irrigated output in 2020 was 45,302.54 metric tons or 90.1 percent. In 2019, it was recorded at 35,761 metric tons or 95.1 percent. The remaining was produced from rainfed areas. (Figure 5 and Table 3).
