The number of establishments in the formal sector of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) increased to 5,256 in 2021, from 4,202 in 2020. By broad industry group, Services had the highest percent share with 91.1 percent, or 4,788 establishments. This was followed by Industry with an 8.6, percent share or 454 establishments and Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing with a 0.3 percent share, or 14 establishments.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - CAR Senior Statistical Specialist Betina Joy V. Bermillo reported Monday that the top three highest among sections were Wholesale and Retail Trade with 2,553 establishments; Financial and Insurance Activities with 692; and Accommodation and Food Service Activities with 577.
The total employment in the formal sector of CAR decreased to 67,956 employees in 2021 from 71,626 in 2020. This was equivalent to a 5.1 percent decrease which was lower than the 30.7 percent decrease in 2020 where the total employment dropped from 103,421 in 2019 to 71,626.
One of the highlights of the said event was the recognition of the ASPBI Top Respondents where Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Cooperative, Isnag Builders and Development Corporation, Lagawe Multipurpose Development Cooperative, Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative, Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc., La Trinidad Water District, BVS Colleges Inc., Mount Costa The Green Living Room Inc., Texas Instruments Philippines Inc., Aurochs Aerospace Precision Manufacturing Corporation, and Adriste Philippines, Inc. were the recepients.
The dissemination forum on the 2021 Annual Survey for Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) of CAR was conducted on 18 December 2023 at Lafaayette Luxury Suites, Baguio City.
