Production

Production of corn was estimated at 7,240.36 metric tons for the fourth quarter of 2021. It went down by 194.14 metric tons or 2.6 percent from previous year’s same period level of 7,434.50 metric tons (Figure 1 and Tables 1)

During the fourth quarter of 2021, yellow corn output comprised 99.7 percent to the total corn production. (Figure 2 and Table 2)

 

Harvest Area

Harvest area for the 2021 fourth quarter contracted by 393 hectares or 19.2 percent, from the previous year’s same quarter of 2,045 hectares to 1,652 hectares. By corn type, yellow corn decreased by 355 hectares from the 2020 level of 1,995 hectares. Likewise, white corn dropped by 38 hectares from 50 hectares to 12 hectares. (Figure 3 and Table 1)

Yield per Hectare

Yield registered was 4.38 metric tons per hectare for the period of 2021 fourth quarter. It remarkably improved by 20.6 percent from the 3.64 metric tons a year ago. (Figure 4 and Table 1)
