University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB) student James Rafael G. Relato was declared regional champion during the 27^th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) regional finals held at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) - CAR Hall, BSU Compound, La Trinidad, Benguet last 10 November 2023.

The Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) is a national annual contest designed to assess the statistical knowledge of freshmen enrolled in colleges and universities across the country's 17 regions.

The PSQ Regional Championship consisted of three rounds.  Each question answered correctly is equivalent to one point for the first two rounds, and two points for each correct answer in the third round. Each round consisted of ten questions that test the statistical acuity of the contestants as well as knowledge about the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).

Accumulating the final scores of 33 points, 32 points, and 25 points, the two contestants from the University of the Philippines Baguio bagged the championship as well as the second place, while University of the Cordilleras won 3rd place. The names of the winners and their coaches were as follows:

Mr. Relato is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and will be representing the region in the upcoming 27^th PSQ National Finals that will be held on 07 December 2023 in Metro Manila.
