The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Benguet Provincial Statistical Office together with the Regional and Central Office conducted a five-day statistical training for the 2021 Pilot CBMS Data Processing of Data Tabulation and Analysis Using Descriptive Statistics last 30 January to 04 February 2023; and one-day Data Review on 03 February 2023 at the Ion Hotel, Legarda Road, Baguio City. The training was designed to developed one’s skill in generating various types of CBMS data tabulations using Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro) and Microsoft Excel applications. Moreover, the key data tables generated from the 2021 2QPilot CBMS was presented during the data review.
The training was attended by the City Planning Development Office (CPDO) staff headed by Arch. Donna G. Rillera-Tabangin, EnP., City Planning Development Coordinator. Furthermore, for the Data Review this was participated by representatives from different line-agencies and departments of Baguio City namely: Department of Education, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Health Service Office, City Legal Office and CPDO.
The staff of PSA-Censuses and Technical Coordination Office (CTCO) -Community-Based Statistics Service (CBSS)-Community-Based Statistics Division (CBSD) Chiefl Statistical Specialist Patricia Anne R. San Buenaventura, Supervising Statistical Specialist Abdulbasit E. Abdulsabad, Statistical Specialist I Keziah D. Odtujan, Statistical Analyst Jasper Duane P. Velasco; PSA-CAR-RSSO-SOCD; and PSA-CAR-RSSO-Benguet served as resource speakers during the training.
Moreover, Deputy National Statistician Minerva Eloisa Esquivias of PSA-CTCO gave her message during the Data Review while the 2021 Pilot CBMS Preliminary Results of Baguio City was presented by Assistant National Statistician Kristine Joy S. Briones of PSA-CTCO-CBSS. The lecture on Ensuring Compliance to Data Privacy Act of 2012 in Handling CBMS Data was also discussed by Atty. Eliezer P. Ambatali of PSA-Legal Office.
The CBMS is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data, that may be used for planning, program implementation and impact monitoring at the local level while empowering communities to participate in the process.
With the commitment to aid in poverty alleviation and socio-economic development, the PSA is bolstering and sustaining its partnership with the LGUs in delivering quality and relevant statistics. This is through capacity-building initiatives such as this training that would serve the best interest of every Filipino in the development process. This training module was developed in collaboration with the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI), the training arm of the CBMS per Republic Act No. 11315 or the CBMS Act. Other modules shall also be served to all CBMS implementing LGUs such as the uses and applications of CBMS data, and the management and security of the local CBMS databank.
