The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) enjoins the public to support the conduct of January 2022 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the 2021 Family Income and Expenditures Survey (FIES) Visit 2 on 10 January to 05 February 2022 for the province of Benguet and Baguio City.
The Labor Force Survey (LFS) is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. The LFS aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
Moreover, the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) is a survey on family income and expenditure of households undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) across the country. It is the main source of data on family income and expenditure in the Philippines. The second round of the FIES will gather data on income and expenditure of families for the second semester or from July to December 2021.
In 2021, the PSA introduced the use of Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application using tablet as a method of data collection during field enumeration. Further, the 2020 PCOICOP was also adopted in classifying the expenditure items of the family for this survey round.
For PSA-Benguet Provincial Statistical Office, there were 114 Statistical Researchers and four Assistant Provincial Focal Person to visit the 1,661 sample households in Baguio City and
1,549 sample households in Benguet. The PSA appeals to the sample households to cooperate and provide truthful, complete, and accurate information to the enumerators.
The PSA adheres to the principles of transparency, legitimate purpose, and proportionality pursuant to R.A. No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and R.A. No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013. All information gathered on the survey is confidential and not for disclosure unless authorized by law. Moreover, PSA will release data only in the form of summaries or statistical tables.
The office assures the public that required public health and safety measures to contain COVID-19 will be strictly observed in all phases of field operations. All PSA personnel and hired field interviewers and team supervisors who will be deployed are in good health condition and will strictly follow precautionary measures against COVID-19, such as wearing of face mask and face shield, physical distancing, proper hygiene and sanitation, and wearing of PSA ID. They shall likewise observe all protocols laid down by the Local Government Units (LGUs).
