Three papers from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will be presented during the 12th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) to be held on October 1-2, 2013 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, 1 Garden Way, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
 
The paper entitled “Payment of Environmental Services for Agricultural Landscape: Design and Methodological Issues,” authored by Ms. Gladys M. Navarro, Graduate Program Coordinator and faculty member of the School of Accountancy and Business Administration, Saint Louis University, Baguio City, is accepted under the Environment Session.
 
The other 2 papers accepted for the Poster Session of the convention are the following:
 
“Civil Registration Procedures for Births, Deaths, and Customary Marriages of Members of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples in the Cordillera Region: Issues and Recommendations” by Gladys A. Cruz, Lorelei C. Mendoza, Alejando N. Ciencia Jr, Nimreh L. Calde, Maileenita A. Peñalba, Victoria Lourdes C. Diaz, and June Prill-Brett from the University of the Philippines – Baguio; and
 
“Predicting Dengue Incidence in Baguio City Using Weather Variables,” by Maria Azucena B. Lubrica, Joyce B. Payaket, and Charlyn D. Kiaw from Benguet State University.
 
The NCS is conducted every three years by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), spearheaded by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), to (1) provide a forum for practitioners and theoreticians in the field of statistics to discuss prevailing issues and emerging developments affecting the PSS; and (2) elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system.
