Benguet

Inflation in Benguet for the bottom 30% income households increased to 6.5 percent in June 2024, from 5.9 percent in May 2024. In June 2023, inflation was lower at 4.8 percent. (Table B and Figure 2)

The main driver in the uptrend of inflation for this income group in June 2024 was housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 6.2 percent, from 5.3 percent in the previous month. This was followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages at 5.7 percent from 5.2 percent, and transport at 18.0 percent, from the 17.2 percent in the previous month.  Moreover, the following also increased during the month:
a.    Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 3.9 percent from 3.7 percent;
b.    Health, 9.2 percent from 9.0 percent;
c.    Restaurants and accommodation services, 6.6 percent from 6.1 percent; and
d.    Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 1.5 percent from 1.1 percent.

On the contrary, decreases were recorded on the following:
a.    Clothing and footwear, -1.3 percent from -0.9 percent; 
b.    Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 0.4 percent from 0.9 percent; and
c.    Recreation, sport and culture, 1.6 percent from 2.5 percent.

The rest of the commodity groups retained their indices.


Food Inflation


Food inflation for the bottom 30% income households at the provincial level moved at a faster pace of 5.9 percent in June 2024 from 5.3 percent in the previous month. In June 2023, its annual increase was observed at 8.0 percent. 


Increases were observed in the index of the following:
a.    Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, -1.3 from -2.2 percent;
b.    Fish and other seafood, 2.6 percent from 0.9 percent;
c.    Milk, other dairy products and eggs, 2.7 percent from 2.4 percent; 
d.    Oils and fats, -5.4 percent from -7.2 percent; and
e.    Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, 8.5 percent from 4.5 percent.

The rest of the food groups decreased their indices.

Inflation in Benguet for the bottom 30% income households increased to 6.5 percent in June 2024, from 5.9 percent in May 2024. In June 2023, inflation was lower at 4.8 percent.

Inflation in the city for the bottom 30% income households increased to 4.8 percent in June 2024, from 4.5 percent in May 2024. In June 2023, inflation was lower at 4.9 percent.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Mountain Province: June 2024

The Consumer Price Index for all items in Mountain Province was recorded at 129.3 index points this June 2024. It increased from the previous month's record at 128.7 index points.
