Registered Marriages in Mountain Province in the Fourth Quarter of 2022 is 174

Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province during the 4th quarter of 2022 reached 174. This was 4.19 percent higher than the registered marriages in the same quarter of 2021 recorded at 167. In the same quarter of 2020, the registered marriages in the province were 122.

About Three in Every Ten Marriages in Mountain Province are Recorded in Bauko

According to records by municipality, Bauko recorded the highest number of marriages in the 4th quarter of this year at 50 marriages which was 28.74 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about 3 in every 10 marriages in Mountain Province were recorded in this municipality. This was followed by Paracelis at 28 marriages or 16.09 percent of the total and Bontoc at 19 or 10.92 percent.

Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Registered Timely

Of the total registered marriages in the province for the 4th quarter of 2022, 166 or 95.40 percent were registered timely. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a 30-day reglementary period was set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages who were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.

Only four municipalities- Barlig, Bauko, Bontoc and Sagada had late registrations

About Six in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil Wedding

According to the type of ceremony, 55.17 percent of the total marriages were civil weddings. This means that almost 6 in every 10 marriages registered in the 4th quarter of this year were civil weddings. 47 marriages or 27.01 percent were solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining percentage was either blessed by the Roman Catholic Church or tribal weddings.

About Three in Every Ten Civil Weddings Occurred in Bauko

Of the 96 civil weddings registered in Mountain Province in the 4th quarter, 28 or 29.17 percent happened in Bauko; 12 marriages each or 12.50 percent occurred in Bontoc and Tadian and 10 marriages or 10.42 percent were solemnized in Barlig.

It was observed that there were 4 tribal marriages that occurred in the province specifically in Barlig and Sagada. There were no marriages solemnized by the Roman Catholic Church in Besao, Sadanga, and Sagada while the most number sanctified by other religious rites were listed in Paracelis and Bauko with 18 and 13 marriages respectively.

About Four in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old

According to the groom’s age, majority of the gentlemen who got married in the 4th quarter of 2022 were under the age group 25 to 29 years with 63 men that accounted to 36.21 percent of all the grooms in the province. They were followed by age groups 30 to 34 years at 23.56 percent and 20 to 24 years at 22.99 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 82.76 percent of all the grooms in Mountain Province in the quarter. According to single year, the highest number of grooms are aged 24 years old and the oldest gentleman who got married during the quarter was 56 years old.

About Three in Every Ten Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Bauko

Of the 63 gentlemen in the province who got married in the 4th quarter of the year and were aged 25 to 29 years old, 31.75 percent were registered in Bauko. This means that about 3 in every 10 grooms aged 25 to 29 years in the province were listed in this municipality.

About Five in Every Ten Grooms in Mountain Province are Roman Catholic

According to groom’s religion, majority of them were Roman Catholic as they comprised 48.28 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in the 4th quarter of 2022. Of these grooms, 34.52 percent were from Bauko while 13.10 percent hailed from Bontoc and 11.54 percent were from Paracelis.

About One in Every Three Brides is 25 to 29 Years Old

Of the 174 registered brides in Mountain Province in the 4th quarter of this year, 59 or 33.91 percent were 25 to 29 years old. This was followed by age groups 20 to 24 years old at 29.31 percent and 30 to 34 years old at 20.67 percent. Their combined share comprised 83.91 percent of all the brides in the province. By single year, the highest number of brides was recorded by aged 24 years old and the oldest bride during the quarter was 59 years old.

About Three in Every Ten Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Bauko

By municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years were registered in Bauko with 18 brides or 30.51 percent of the total brides in the province of this age. This was followed by Tadian and Besao at 15.25 percent and 11.86 percent respectively.
