Registered Marriages in Mountain Province in 2022 is 804

Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province in 2022 reached 804. This was 20.18 percent higher than the registered marriages in 2021 recorded at 669. In 2020, the registered marriages in the province were 525.

About Two in Every Ten Marriages in Mountain Province are Recorded in Bauko

According to records by municipality, Bauko recorded the highest number of marriages in 2022 at 176 marriages which was 21.89 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about 2 in every 10 marriages in Mountain Province were recorded in this municipality. This was followed by Paracelils at 150 marriages or 18.66 percent of the total and Bontoc at 115 or 14.30 percent. The least number was registered in Barlig at just 24 marriages for the year.

Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Registered Timely

Of the total registered marriages in the province this year, 779 or 96.89 percent were registered timely. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a30-day reglementary period was set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages who were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.
 
Registered marriages in Besao, Natonin and Sadanga are all registered timely.
 

About Five in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil Wedding

By type of ceremony, 54.98 percent of the total marriages were civil weddings. This means that about 5 in every 10 marriages registered this year were civil weddings. 225 marriages or 27.99 percent were solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining percentage was either blessed by the Roman Catholic Church or tribal weddings.

About Two in Every Ten Civil Weddings Occurred in Bauko

Of the 442 civil weddings registered in Mountain Province in 2022, 99 or 22.40 percent happened in Bauko; 71 civil marriages or 16.06 percent occurred in Bontoc. The least number of civil weddings was solemnized in Barlig with 18 registered civil marriages.
 
It was observed that there were 10 tribal marriages that occurred in the province specifically in Barlig, Bauko, Sagada and Tadian. There were no marriages solemnized by the Roman Catholic Church in Besao while the most number sanctified by other religious rites were listed in Paracelis with 98 marriages.

About 2 in every 3 marriages in Paracelis were sanctified by other religious rites.

About Four in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old

According to the groom’s age, majority of the gentlemen who got married in 2022 were under the age group 25 to 29 years with 300 men that accounted to 37.31 percent of all the grooms in the province. They were followed by age groups 30 to 34 years at 24 percent and 20 to 24 years at 21.89 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 83.21 percent of all the grooms in Mountain Province during the year. According to single year, the highest number of grooms were aged 28 years old and the oldest gentleman who got married was 66 years old.

About Two in Every Ten Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Bauko

Of the 300 gentlemen in the province who got married during the year and were aged 25 to 29 years old, 20.33 percent were registered in Bauko. This means that about 2 in every 10 grooms aged 25 to 29 years in the province were listed in this municipality.

About Five in Every Ten Grooms in Mountain Province are Roman Catholic

According to groom’s religion, majority of them were Roman Catholic as they comprised 46.52 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in 2022. Of these grooms, 21.93 percent were from Bauko; 16.04 percent each were listed in Bontoc and Paracelis; and 12.57 percent were from Tadian.

About One in Every Three Brides is 25 to 29 Years Old

Of the 804 registered brides in Mountain Province during the year, 288 or 35.82 percent were 25 to 29 years old. This was followed by age groups 20 to 24 years old at 31.47 percent and 30 to 34 years old at 16.42 percent. Their combined share comprised 83.71 percent of all the brides in the province. By single year, the highest number of brides was recorded by aged 26 and 27 years old at 64 brides each and the oldest bride during the year was 60 years old.

About Two in Every Ten Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Bauko

By municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years were registered in Bauko with 71 brides or 24.65 percent of the total brides in the province of this age. This was followed by Bontoc and Tadian at 14.93 percent and 13.54 percent respectively.
